Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Hey y’all! It’s been a long while since I have assembled this post but since Yin is otherwise engaged I thought i’d step in and make you guys wait no longer. As ever we have selected the best new music that hit the airwaves of the wonderful World Wide Web this past week. Feast on some musical goodness on the flipside.

Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)

YES! Let’s pretend Lasers never happened. This new cut that he unleashed last week is vintage Lupe over a classic Pete Rock beat – effortless flow, just makes you want to bounce. Politically lyrical Lupe is back – who else can’t wait for Food & Liquor 2?

Boyfriend (Remix)

The Biebs shot to the top of the charts with the lead single taken from his sophomore album Believe. Having already seen the single peak and now ascend JB and his crew have released the tracks official remix featuring rappers 2 Chainz, Mac Miller and Asher Roth. My favourite part of the original track were Justin’s falsetto vocals which i’m glad to say are the only remaining JB vocals. Thankfully he has left the rapping to those who do it for a living.

Chain Glows

If you’ve not yet heard of No I.D.’s supergroup, keep your ear to the street (or the webs) because you’re about to hear a lot more about them. Fronted by Roc Nation singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy but also featuring contributions from a bunch of other artists, Cocaine 80s have been blessing us with tracks every day. My favourite so far features ‘The Don’ Nas and Fauntleroy chorusing a catchy hook (BTW, while there are notable comparisons to OFWGKA crooner Frank Ocean, Fauntleroy is NOT copying him – google the singer and you’ll see he’s been around for a while).

Top Of The World

Smooth operator Robin Thicke has once again released a track that oozes that summer vibe. His voice always seems to ride the beat so effortlessly however this track sees the high note crooner showcase his “rapping” skills. Though not a rapper i’d like to point out that the lyrics are 10 billion times better than what Justin Bieber spilled on ‘Boyfriend’. The best way to listen to this song is probably chilling in the garden sippin on some Gin n Juice or cruising the town in a drop top blazing the tune out loud.

Small Town Moon

Regina Spektor is back with her sixth LP. One of the leading tracks - Small Town Moon caught my attention last week. Bit more of a production in comparison to her previous work, drum beats and bursts of guitar riffing definitely make a difference. It’s still delicate and melodic as always, enjoy. I’m going to give the album a spin – think you should too.
