Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

10 Most Complained About TV Ads

posted by on 31/05/2012

Yesterday the Telegraph posted an article featuring the top 10 most complained about adverts of all time. The top 10 spans topics from indecent exposure to unnerving violence to full on blaspheme, but topping the list is KFC with their Zinger sandwich meal advert that scored 1,671 complaints; parents were concerned that it would promote bad manners amongst children… it’s a touchy target audience! Other notable entries include the hard-hitting Barnardo’s ‘Break The Cycle’ campaign which caused some upset as it features a young girl being hit repeatedly in the head- the campaign was launched to spread awareness of the domestic abuse of children. Also the YSLOpium’ ad which I have absolutely no problem with…

The Frye Company 'How Fryes Are Made' Video

posted by on 31/05/2012

1863 born American Shoe Company ‘The Frye Company’ is the oldest is of its kind; recently they released a video ad that I think is worth watching firstly if you love film and obviously if you have a thing for leather goods. The 1 minute clip (give or take) speaks volumes of the company’s heritage, the intricate process involved in creating a single shoe and its journey to the shelves. A simple concept that really encompasses their patriotism in terms of the company’s heritage and traditional American style- it’s so well shot and edited, in that 1 minute alone you take away quite a bit about the company. Watch the video after the break.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 31/05/2012

I feel like I got my baby back. I don’t know why but I feel like I haven’t written this post is forever. As I write this I have to be honest and say that I do not have a song in mind but I assure you by the end of my rambling I will have a cracker ready and prepared. *inserts awkward pause* OK so I’m finding this a lil harder than first thought, I keep going back and forth round and round but I think I have settled on a track. Click on the read on button to feast your ears of some old school musical goodness from Mantronix. Many may wonder who the heck Mantronix is but I guarantee once you hit play on the song you’ll remember it instantly. Don’t believe me? Well why don’t you see for yourself :).

And The Winner Is….

posted by on 30/05/2012

BOOM. So many entries for this competition, took us a while transferring them all into Excel to randomly select a winner. Definitely not doing a share & like competition, think a simple form entry mechanic will be easier to manage in future. Hop on after the cut to find out who the winner is…

Jay-Z x Kanye West – No Church In The Wild | Music Video

posted by on 30/05/2012

Watch The Throne was average for me – it’s far from classic worthy material in my opinion. Jay-Z and Yeezy unveiled the latest set of visuals from the project for ‘No Church In The Wild‘. The Frank Ocean-featured track is definitely one of my favourites on the album and as always Romain doesn’t hold back on the visuals. He’s goes all in with the political statements again with the social unrest but doesn’t quite work as well as it did in Justice’s ‘Stress‘ and M.I.A’s ‘Born Free‘ videos. Would I watch the video again? Probably not. Hop on after the cut to watch.

Jag Nagra's Minimalist 365 Project

posted by on 30/05/2012

So dope! A self proclaimed “Part-time Daydreamer, and Part-time DesignerJag Nagra‘s work is far from part time if she’s doing a 365 of this level. Her 365 has definitely got to the award for most unique, I’ve never come across something like this. Starting just under 4 months ago on January 29th, Jag has been designing minimalist geometric vector renditions of characters and idols from the pop culture world. There’s plenty of comic book coverage, guessing that’s down to the release of Avengers Assemble. Her work is so defined, minimalist but still features enough facial details for us to decipher the character within a few seconds. Hop on after the cut.

Ricky Powell x PONY | Capsule Collection

posted by on 30/05/2012

PONY have teamed up with legendary photographer Ricky Powell to create a capsule collection consisting of Vintage Slamdunk sneakers, a few tees and a sweatband accessory. Of course, Hip-hop inspired. Powell who has shot the likes of Beastie Boys, Run DMC and Laurence Fishburne amongst others. If I’m honest, I’m not really a big PONY fan – never really appealed to me, if I’m correct they used to sponsor West Ham? That’s a turn off right there. Digressed a little bit, Powell’s photographs aren’t going to ‘wow’ you, it’s the rawness and realness of the images that’ll make them appeal to you. Hop on after the cut.

VERSUS | Announcement – British 10k Challenge

posted by on 29/05/2012

A few weeks back, Felix, an old friend of mine from Staffordshire University hit me up with an interesting proposal. He’s the founder of London-lifestyle site, Control The Riot, who also happens to be running the British 10k. You know we’re this is going right? Yep a challenge, my initial answer was ‘no’. Why? The same old, I’m Indian and we don’t do competitive sport. (except Cricket and I don’t like that sport either) Continues on the reverse.

Y&Y 30 Seconds | DJB

posted by on 28/05/2012

BEFORE you click play, you have to read my introduction. For a while Yang and I have felt the site has been too focused on ourselves and that’s how Y&Y 30 seconds was born – to shed more light on the Y&Y family. We’ve teamed up with Tandy of MadTatter Films who’s worked his magic on these videos; really capturing the essence of each member. Also shout out to BKRY for hooking us with a dope sample! Summer vibes. I don’t think he needs much of an introduction, we’re going to kick start 30 Seconds with Y&Y’s main man – the one and the only, DJB. Hop on after the cut.
