Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Dope Quote #43

posted by on 15/04/2012

High resolution image – click here

Probably the most open dope quote to date and as always, this series of posts has been completely relational to my life at the very moment of writing. This post is about relationships and love for your partner. It’s funny when I look back at my relationships, they’re a mixture of good/bad and each relationship I went in with different goals and attractions. In my younger years, it was all about the appearance, one didn’t care for the personality or the ability to conversate. A few years later it was a balance between appearance and personality. Now? It’s a combination of all those factors; finding a woman with a similar purpose to your very own, an understanding of my lifestyle, goals and vision. Her drive and ambition should inspire me to work harder and vice-versa. Nothing more attractive than seeing a woman more passionate about her life and work. Sexy. Weird, right? Love is sacrificial, kind, beautiful and everything you can imagine. I honestly believe love conquers all. Heck, I love love so much that I have it tattooed on my forearm. Remember love is not possessive, demanding, stubborn, or dominating. Think about it.

#MakeItCount – The Youtube Advert?

posted by on 14/04/2012

AH this is my DREAM holiday/job right here. Getting a big ass cheque from a MNC to travel the world and create footage. Film maker Max Joseph was commissioned by the Swoosh folks to create a commercial and do just that for the Nike FuelBand launch featuring their new campaign slogan ‘Make It Count‘. This was the film maker’s third commission from the brand so he thought to himself, if he could do anything in the world to make it count – what would it be? Him and Neistat chose to use Nike’s cash to travel 34,000 miles, visiting 16 cities in 13 countries across 3 continents in the space of 10 DAYS. The result is the film after the cut, pretty damn inspiring if I say so. I know being a skeptic, I can’t help but think this was the original advert plan but hey, who cares? I don’t care where the inspiration comes from, the end result is dope and that is all.

Film Review | The Cabin in the Woods

posted by on 13/04/2012

Have you ever been watching a film and felt that you’ve seen parts of it before? It’s a problem that horror films in particular seem to have run into of late. Well good news horror fans; it’s a problem that the makers of Cabin in the Woods are well aware of. Penned by Joss Whedon – aka the director of that small film called Avengers Assemble – and directed by Drew Goodard, this latest addition to the genre revels in turning those well known clichés upside down, and is easily the best horror film of the year for it.

Mercury Fur | Old Red Lion Theatre

Imagine a world whereby butterflies make the world go round. Whereby butterflies are a means to escape. This indeed is a reality for two brothers who deal butterflies to their addicted customers for a living. Set in a post apocalyptic East End, all Elliot and Darren have to do is host a party for their boss’ amusement, but will it all go to plan?

Taaaaking it back to the good ol’ MSN days with this throwback. I’m sure a lot of you used to have corny ass song lyrics in your name surrounded by a multitude of irrelevant ASCII characters. Well this song is filled with R&B one liners, it’s a happy love song! Let me know if you remember it, listen after the cut.

Following the dreadful fates of the male soldiers of Troy, Women of Troy shines a light on a nation of women who must band together to rebuild the foundations of their community. The very essence of the community was prominent throughout the piece which I felt was communicated brilliantly throughout.

Film Review | Battleship

posted by on 11/04/2012

Recently, James Cameron (Avatar) came out about the lack of originality in Hollywood, citing Battleship as a prime example. With the amount of sequels, prequels, and reboots due for release in the next couple of years, I am inclined to agree with him. Battleship is based on the Hasbro video game, the same company from which Transformers was birthed. The similarities between the two have been very apparent in the trailers, and many have proclaimed that it is Transformers-at-sea. Can director Peter Berg (Hancock) distinguish Battleship from its criticized counterpart?

Tom Munro x Rihanna | Short Film For Elle Magazine

posted by on 11/04/2012

Remember how much I used to worship this woman? Every music video was instantly posted as soon as it hit the web but now, nada. I just don’t agree with the image she’s promoting, the lyrics! Allow. This beautifully shot short film for Elle Magazine featuring the Bajan beauty. Directed by Tom Munro, the short film is set in her past life where life was simple in a rural town in Mexico (?) with RiRi parading around in her scantily clad but classy outfit. The story doesn’t have much to it but doesn’t it need to? It’s a fashion film and a beautiful one – nicely shot, graded and even scored. Perfect fusion of fashion, music and art. Have a gander on the reverse.

H&M Fashion Against Aids | Campaign Video

posted by on 11/04/2012

Another exclusive from our good friends over at Hennes & Mauritz in the form of an image and video from their fifth Fashion Against AIDS (FAA) collection, to raise funds and create awareness for the HIV/AIDS among the young. It’s sadly on the increase around the world :( what the Swedish retailer is doing is giving 25% of all sales will go directly to a variety of international youth HIV awareness charities. Guess how much they have raised in the past few years for this cause? 45 Million SEK. Dayum! also probably wouldn’t click play at work, it’s safe for work but a little on the…um, naughty side. More on the reverse.
