Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Matt Gillespie's NYC Photography

posted by on 19/03/2012

Beautiful, came across this a few weeks back through Y&Y friend Olan. Photographer Matt Gillespie visited New York for the very first time and has managed to capture the essence of the city in these magnificent set of photographs. They’re so vibrant and delightful to look at – he’s photographed everything from people, architecture, taxi’s and even a little tilt shift technique. Serious dopeness, have a gander after the cut.

NIKEiD Studio at BoxPark | Launch

posted by on 18/03/2012

Nike Nike Nike Nike. You’re probably thinking why I’m posting this soon after Candice’s post on her iD appointment here – well I wanted to check it out with my own eyes and it was a very special launch of Nike’s new space and the 40th anniversary of the Cortez sneaker. If I’m completely honest, I’m not actually that fond of the Cortez. Just not big on the ‘sporty’ looking sneakers unless I wear them for their functional use. This was also the launch of Nike’s second space in Shoreditch’s new shopping complex, Boxpark. The new NIKEiD Studio on the first floor of the site is where fans can design and personalise their own performance and lifestyle footwear. It’s definitely my favourite Nike spot in the city – luxurious, the wood makes it feel like an actual tailor’s workshop and draws filled with inspiration in the form of design books. More on the reverse.

Sorapol – Iron Grip Launch

posted by on 18/03/2012

Last night Sorapol Chawaphatnakul, former LCF student, showcased his AW12 Collection ‘Iron Grip’ and we were invited to cover the launch by the lovely folks at POP PR. The well suited venue for the show was the ‘Old Vic Tunnels’ a series of underground tunnels beneath Waterloo Station which was also used as an underground cinema to screen the UK premiere of Banksy’s film ‘Exit through the Gift Shop’. The descent through the tunnel’s arched ceilings completely covered in graffiti (or as I like to term Street Art) combined with the eerie shadows cast by the spotlights meant myself and the crowd of guests at the drink reception including Boy George, Maxi Jazz and Christian Jessen were buzzing to see the collection…We were not disappointed.

22tracks – LDN Launch

posted by on 17/03/2012

22 tracks has been around for a whole minute now. The Dutch-based music curation website was brought to my attention a few years back by @oi_nico. I didn’t really pay much attention to it since I had bookmarked many music blogs at the time that checked on a daily basis. Who knew the site would blow? It’s now multinational with curators from cities all around Europe and now it’s coming to our glorious city. What better way to get things started than with an event with some of London’s best curators? Including artists, DJs, producers and even our friends over at Pinboard, more on the reverse.

H&M Conscious | Exclusive Glamour Collection

posted by on 16/03/2012

Women’s fashion is not my forte however I do enjoy it and I know what looks good and what doesn’t. I lovewatching Joan Rivers and Co rip the hell out of Celebs for their ghastly fashion choices on Fashion Police. The red carpet has become a major figure in the fashion world as Celebs strut their stuff down the carpeted runway showcasing designer creations. H&M have taken this on board and have delivered an exclusive collection of red-carpet looks, all made from more sustainable materials such as organic cotton and hemp as well as recycled polyester. The collection is part of its Conscious initiative. Take a look at some great pieces from  this Exclusive Conscious collection, which will be available from April 12 in around 100 stores H&M worldwide, as well as selected looks on-line.

Flashback Friday

posted by on 16/03/2012

Sorry those who were expecting a Throwback Thursday yesterday, it slipped under the radar this week. Fear not thought for I have thought of a song that should be worth the extra day’s wait. For the past few weeks I have been blasting this tune from Ginuwine as if it has only just been released. There’s nothing better than kicking back and jamming to old songs you have stored in your library, hopefully this week’s Flashback Friday will inspire you to do just that. Start your throwback session with Ginuwine and his sultry song ‘Im In Love’ taken from his 2006 album Back II Basics.

Nike iD – Free Run 3.0 | Nike Boxpark

posted by on 15/03/2012

What do you do when Nike invite you to iD your own pair of Free run 3.0 for your Birthday?  You run as fast as your Lunarswifts will carry you! I had heard a lot about the Nike Boxpark space in Shoreditch but had yet to experience it for myself. Being allowed in the iD department before it was open to the public allowed me to really soak up just how innovative the space was. The Boxpark concept is special as the stores are housed in actual shipping containers!

ASOS Future Stylist 2012 – Round 3 | Voting Open

posted by on 15/03/2012

Shameless promotion of my work project on here again! It fits on here so no loss of site integrity haha. We’re one step closer to finding out who Future Stylist 2012 is with just 8 hopefuls left; we decided to task the stylist with a more challenging theme – Sporty. Call it Olympics fever combined with the return of colour for Spring/Summer. It’s a theme that incorporates all that is fun and it’s all about finding the perfect balance between ‘sporty‘ and casual. You can’t casually rock gym wear on a day to day basis. We hit the quarter finals, who’s your front runner? Hop on after the cut and decide.

Lord of the Flies | Sell-a-Door Theatre Tour

posted by on 15/03/2012

Imagine what the world would be like with no adults, no rules or no structure? I’m sure when we were all young, this was the ultimate dream! For a group of seemingly perfect schoolboys this appears to be the case as they crash land onto a desert island after being evacuated from a war ridden Britain. But will it be a bed of roses, or will the boys slowly realise that they have a lot of growing up to do?
