Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Film Trailer | The Amazing Spider-Man

posted by on 07/02/2012

All good film trailers come in two’s! Not to be outdone by yesterday’s epic 1 minute TV spot of The Avengers, good ol’ Spidey has popped up with some new footage of his own in a brand new trailer. This take is clearly different from Sam Raimi’s earlier trilogy, but it doesn’t look any less impressive. The checkboxes for web-slinging, wall-crawling, and wisecracking are all ticked, and the darker tone may yet prove to be beneficial. With Spider-Man joining The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises in theaters later this year, this summer is shaping up to be particularly epic for comic book fans. Check out the trailer and synopsis after the jump.

The Brooklyn Circus Spring 2012 Releases

posted by on 07/02/2012

I try to steer clear from posting brands that are difficult to acquire in the UK but you know for sure you’d whip out the extra shipping costs for an exceptional product. The BKc is one of those brands that constantly deliver clothing of a very high standard with lookbooks to match its quality. Although I’m not sure if any of the looks styled in this collection are adequate for Spring weather, a little too much layering. I’d be sweating like a fat man’s arse. How dope is that tweed/herringbone biker jacket with leather sleeves?! I’ve never seen such a fusion before but it works so well with the rest of fairly smart outfit. Incredible. Main reason for posting the collection? I’m actually going to be visiting the BK store in a month’s time as I’m moving to NYC then. More on the reverse.

Nike Sportswear 2012 NSW – Made In Italy Collection

posted by on 07/02/2012

So what happens when Nike‘s designer director of Apparel wants to make the best product possible? You go to Italy as it’s the logical place for fine product making. The NSW designers traveled to Italy to work on this year’s ‘Made In Italy‘ collection – last year’s was Tennis inspired and this one is inspired by last year’s key sporting moment – the Rugby World Cup with the grey ‘1823 Rugby Shirt‘ as the star of this collection. What makes this collection so special in comparison to the rest of Nike’s NSW range? It’s all in the details. I actually shot the flat shots for them so the garments were with me for enough time for me to realise why it stands out. A variety of new materials, stitching and trim have been used to construct this collection, heck even the weight of the collection is much lighter. Hop on after the cut.

Video Jukebox Episode 4

posted by on 07/02/2012

A rather delayed Video Jukebox this week, apologies folks! I can hold two nights of D’Angelo live at Brixton Academy fully responsible for this one! This week M.I.A. re-defined the phrase ‘making an entrance’ with two rather controversial music videos hitting the web. I decided to ignore the Madonna & Nicki Minaj video…it’s boring, full of advertising (Nicki’s adi-breasts) and poor M.I.A. & Nicki only get a small feature at the end. Plus her video for ‘Bad Girls’ is way cooler! Miguel and Day26 have their eyes set on the fast-approaching Valentine’s Day with their new R&B-smooth videos. There’s also some Hip Hop from Pharoahe Monch, Blu, The Quaranteam and a fan-made video for The Throne’s anthem track, “Ni**as in Paris”! Enjoy, and I promise I’ll be on time for our breakfast date this Saturday!

Trench Kiss | GQ Italia

posted by on 06/02/2012

A little bit of style inspiration for your Monday morning commute. Props to brother StyleCupidBlog for putting me onto this editorial in this month’s GQ Italia. It was also a reality check for me as I need to get back into magazines! I can’t actually remember the last time I bought one, after years of subscriptions in my teen years the internet has really taken me away from my love for print. So much design & typography inspiration for less than £10. Back to the editorial, you all know how long I’ve been yearning for a Burberry trench coat but just can’t bring myself to spending so much on an item of clothing. Chose to purchase a new camera instead the last time around, plus I’m waiting for Spring before I can rock a trench. It won’t keep warm in this weather! This editorial shot by Emilio Tini shows us the many different ways and looks that you can rock a trench coat to. Definitely one of the finest and most versatile menswear pieces out there, hop on after the cut to see the rest of the editorial.

Shoparazzi Discovery Pass – Anthem | Store

posted by on 06/02/2012

The good folks over at Shoparazzi were kind enough to gift me with a £50 Discovery Pass and I finally got around to actually making use of that voucher over the weekend. They’ve set up relationships with one of London’s finest Independent boutiques including Pie, Blitz London, House of Vintage, West Village, The General Leather Company and Anthem. @SuperNoodleRach recommended the later as it fit with my personal style which I certainly agreed with – it’s a fine new menswear boutique on Calvert Avenue. Located in an area that was pretty much dead a few years ago – Anthem definitely stands out amongst its local competitors on Shoreditch High Street and Redchurch Street. It’s only been open for a few months now but I can already tell its popular from the amount of visitors that came in during our visit. More on the reverse.

The Guardian Open Weekend

posted by on 04/02/2012

Next month, the Guardian will be hosting a two-day festival open to the public. The Guardian Open Weekend is an amazing opportunity for readers and the general public to get involved in a range of debates, talks, workshops, music, comedy, poetry and food. The open weekend is spread out across The Guardian offices and Kings Place and Hub King’s Cross which are only 5 minutes walk apart; ticket prices stand at £40 for a Saturday pass, £30 for a Sunday pass or £60 to secure entry for the whole weekend of 24th & 25th March. They’re not cheap tickets but with guest speakers such as Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror), Camila Batmanghelidjh (kids Company) and being amidst an event as such, I could be persuaded. I know it’s early days- still got about 6 weeks to go but tickets may sell quite fast. We’ll remind you anyway, just keep an eye on ‘What’s On This Week’. Loads more info available from the website.
