Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Dope Quote #37

posted by on 09/02/2012

Something that has been on my mind for the past few weeks. A lot of our lives are run on routines – get up, go to work, go home, sleep and do it all again. I’m sure you all agree that TFL constantly fails us; our journey to work is usually hectic and hindered by it. How many of you have walked past ‘that’ person who needed an extra hand to lift up his/her luggage up the stairs because you were running late to work. I know I have. In fact this starts at how home, how many of us take time out of our busy schedules to treat your parents to dinner or just be there for them. I certainly haven’t done that much, shameful I know but I’m glad I got smacked in the face with a reality check. As humans, we need to be ready to inconvenience ourselves in order to help others. Wouldn’t you want someone to help you up carry luggage up the stairs? You never know what little act of generosity could do. Try it. Click here for high res.

Cirque du Soleil: Totem | Review

posted by on 09/02/2012

We cover most aspects of art from photography to film but not so much the performing arts- it’s an area we’ve not really touched on so we’re giving it a go! One of my friends Lucy Basaba is about to kick things off with her review of ‘Cirque du Soleil: Totem‘ at the Royal Albert Hall. Catch her review after the break.

Film Trailer | The Bourne Legacy

posted by on 09/02/2012

It’s not easy to get into my most anticipated films of 2012 list without a trailer or synopsis, but somehow The Bourne Legacy managed it. The three previous installments of the franchise starring Matt Damon as the titular character are some of the best action films you’ll ever see, with thrilling car chases and brutal melee encounters just some of the staples that made the series so popular. It’s little wonder why the announcement of a fourth Bourne movie – without Matt Damon no less – was greeted with a lukewarm reaction by many (including yours truly). However, the performance of his ‘replacement’ Jeremy Renner in last year’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol went some way to quelling my doubts. The new trailer released today all but eliminates them. Have a gander at the new footage after the jump.

Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 | Register Now!

posted by on 09/02/2012

Radio 1′s Big Weekend is to run on a much bigger scale this year in conjunction with the 2012 Olympics. With the line-up packing the likes of Emeli Sande, Dappy (who’s ‘rockstar’ track I like), Jessie J, Labrinth, Tinnie tempah, Will-I-Am, Leona Lewis, Florence and the Machine, Wretch 32 and more; this is definitely set to be a big weekend for Hackney Marches on 23-24th June. With 6 areas of live music including the Dance Arena, 1Xtra stage, In New Music We Trust stage, Outdoor stage, BBC Introducing stage and of course the Main Stage- there will be a good mix of UK and international artists, some you may know and some you’ll need to google but if you listen to Radio 1 then you would have heard of most! Those unable to get free tickets can watch all the action live via BBC Three on the ‘red button’, Live on the Hackney Weekend website and Radio 1 will also be updating you.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 09/02/2012

So it’s been at least a couple months since I last put a throwback post out so I called it swiftly before DJB or Yin could get inthere! I’ve taken this one back to the late 90′s which in my opinion was a good decade for hip-hop music. ‘Doin it‘ by LL Cool J is one of my favourite songs of all time, I used to blast it on my mini pc speakers when I was like 13 and with such lyrics I thank God my mum had NO clue what he was on about or it would have been that time for me. Only recently did I realise that actually this track is a sample of Grace Jones‘ ‘Jamaican Guy‘… did everyone already know that!? Anyway, listen to the track after the break.

Grenson Pop-Up Store

posted by on 08/02/2012

One of England’s most finest shoemakers, Grenson have just opened up a pop-up store opposite Heron Tower since the Liverpool Street store has closed for refurbishment. My cousin and I ended up walking all the way around Shoreditch, Bricklane and Aldgate looking for the store – if you’re going to search St. Botolph’s Church Hall on Google Maps, please note that there are two St. Botolph’s Churches a stone’s throw away from another. So yeah, don’t end up going to the Aldgate one! Head to Liverpool Street and come out of the underground station exit, walk up the stairs, past McDs and you should see the Church Hall (map here) on the next road. The pop up store is split into two sides, one for sale items and other for non-sale. I ended up buying my first pair of shoes 2012…hop on after the cut to find out how much it cost.

Wrangler 'Get Your Edge Back' Promo Video

posted by on 07/02/2012

Yin recently posted stills from the denim retailer’s new campaign ‘Get Your Edge Back’. Wrangler’s previous efforts in terms of promo have been really extravagant, big budget type shoots so this time it seemed as though the denim giant were a bit stifled on the advertising front. Last year I thought their STUNT campaign was amazing but also a distraction from the collection. The promo video for the campaign this year however is a testament to Wrangler’s creative team as this time they’ve managed to successfully capture the essence of the campaigns title whilst displaying more focus on the clothes!
