Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Versace For H&M | Cruise Collection Lookbook

posted by on 04/01/2012

BOOOOOOM. Bet you haven’t seen this before? Lookbook images from the upcoming Versace for H&M Cruise Collection. Remember I was drooling over this collection a few weeks back – click here, well I certainly am now. However this post is about the women’s collection, if you work in fashion or keep up to date with trends then you’ll know prints and sportswear are definitely the must have this season. The women’s collection is a continuation from last season, toned down and much more lighter in terms of colour palettes. It’s light, feminine with a lot of berries and butterflies print on dresses, tops, gowns and cardigans. Have a gander at a few of the behind the scenes photographs from the actual collection. GUESS WHAT? Stayed tuned, we’ll give away something special from the collection, womenswear only.

Happy Birthday DJB!

posted by on 04/01/2012

It wouldn’t be a Y&Y birthday post if there wasn’t a little bit of exposure! Thanks for all your efforts on the site, Happy Birthday From Yin&Yang Family!

Yin – *jumps into post* sorry I had to butt in and say that I had nothing to do with the imagery in this post. You’re definitely the hardest working member of the Y&Y team, everyone knows that so I dare anyone to challenge that statement. Let’s make 2012 ours, hope you have a great day! I’ll leave you with a song – click here.

The Firm – Photographs by Jocelyn Bain Hogg

posted by on 04/01/2012

Never before have I come across such photography that has scared me. It’s so real, raw and the black & white tones, just add to that frightening effect. It’s not horror by any means – no blood, guts or skulls, it’s just the characters that fill these photographs. The Firm who were predominantly made up of skinhead gangsters. My uncle told me many stories from his childhood, from being that Indian kid in school that was over 80% white and constantly being racially abused by a few skinhead yobs for his race and skin colour. Names such as ‘p*ki‘ were thrown about, dare I say times have changed. Improved. Racism still alive, just look at the case that was cleared yesterday. 18 YEARS. Let’s not get into that, this post is about the photography. Award-winning photographer Jocelyn has brilliantly captured the darkness, the happiness and everything about the English mafia’s life. More on the reverse.

posted by on 04/01/2012

Everyday I spend hours on end listening to music, so I thought I would write up a post every week where I select 10 of my favourite songs from the past week. I don’t necessarily mean songs that have only been released that week, I just mean sharing with you 10 of my favourite songs from the past week that I’ve played. Feel free to comment on the chosen songs and maybe share your own.

Y&Y x Joshua Bennett – Balaenoptera | Cardy Films

posted by on 04/01/2012

Absolutely blown away by the final product, @OlanCollardy has out done himself. We teamed up with the up and coming film maker again to shoot renowned poet Joshua Bennett. I was initially going to hold back from posting the video till I was done with the feature with interview and photographs but this is just too good not to share. Meeting the Striver’s Row word-smith was an honour itself and actually get him to recite a poem for us – even more of an amazing! I think we were all in awe of his talent; made it look so effortless, the words just so honest & delivered with raw passion – it may just leave you in tears. Ladies & Gentleman, click play to watch the latest Cardy masterpiece. Way too many quotables from Joshua, I’m sorted for my next love letter to my girlfriend.

Downloaded onto my retinas. Hoping that I can replay that moment our eyes first played freeze tag.

posted by on 03/01/2012

Having brought you the Adidas Originals by Jeremy Scott collection not to long ago it’s only right that I post the shoes which is set to compliment that collection. I’m going to start off by saying the sandal/trainer things (yes i said things) what ever they are, they have GOT TO GO. If I were bare foot walking on glass and stone and someone offered me those “shoes” i’d turn them down, disgusting! The rest of the collection isn’t too bad but i’ll let you guy make your own minds up. Take a look and share your thoughts. P.S the collection is set to hit stores in February/March, so not too long to wait.

Richmond Park Visit – Photo Story

posted by on 03/01/2012

I should really place these posts within the Yin’s life section but think they’re a little too long for that page, it’d probably take around 30 seconds to scroll down the page if I did. One of the best things about being on holiday is the free time; I certainly wanted to utilise the time to do something productive so I ventured down to Richmond Park on Thursday with my good friend Leona and photographer @GeekySneaks (check out his work – here) who I was meeting for the first time in person. The wonders of virtual friendships through Twitter, I’ve met a lot of good people via social networks. Judge me if you want but social networking is the new norm. Let’s face it. Our trip to Richmond Park didn’t out the way it should have, why? You’ll have to hop on after the cut.

Showcasing: Vince Kidd

posted by on 03/01/2012

Why oh why have I only just listened to this guy? I remember seeing a post about Vince Kidd on Pinboardblog but chose to side step it, what a mistake that was. The saying goes “It’s better late than never” and in this case those words couldn’t be truer. Having not done a Showcasing post for a while I’m so glad I can return to it with an artist that genuinely induced excitement. We live in a world where an artist’s vocal ability isn’t the only thing we judge them by, its the whole package we are looking for and this includes the image. So with that I am totally in love with the idea of someone looking a certain way but sounding the complete opposite to how they look and Vince Kidd is exactly that oxymoron and then some. His rockstar image coupled with his soulful R&B croonerish vocals are refreshing and something that this industry we call music needs. Having supported Lana Del Ray at Scala and been placed on the MTV Brand New For 2012 list the Sony signed singer looks set to make 2012 very interesting. The video above is a short visual introduction but click the read on button to really get to know about Kidd by listening to his tracks and watching a great acoustic video.
