Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Mujjo Touchscreen Gloves

posted by on 10/01/2012

I think you’ll agree when I say these are a god send. If you own an iPhone or any other heat-sensitive phone, you’ll know it’s highly annoying having to take off your gloves in the cold weather to answer it or change your music etc.. Available in a grey only, the Mujjo touchscreen gloves are made from high quality silver coated nylon fibres which are sensitive to heat. They might not be fancy and they look like pretty standard gloves but they do the trick! More after the break.

Tom Ford 2012 Spring/Summer Lookbook

posted by on 10/01/2012

While we strut around town trying to shelter every inch of our bodies from the cold, the fashion world stays steady releasing images and lookbook’s of their impending summer collections. Yesterday it was the turn of Tom Ford and his 2012 Spring/Summer Collection. The lookbook, shot by Ford himslef, showcases his signature tailoring and classic aesthetic. I particularly like the spotted blazers with the thick lapels as seen above, I may even have to delve into my non existent stash and purchase upon release. Peep the full lookbook, which includes linen suits, 50′s styled ties, crocodile John moccasins and some tighter than tight swimming shorts (im not here for those shorts), on the flipside.

UnSung Heroes #1 | Okiem Warmann

posted by on 09/01/2012

With the recent launch of our new look site, I am happy to be finally doing the first post of my long awaited Unsung Heroes series. Around every star there is always a constellation of stars that also shine bright but often go unnoticed. This applies to the world of music. All successful artists work with geniuses in the background that fans do not necessarily know about or celebrate. I think it’s important to celebrate the musical geniuses behind the artist who make a significant contribution to creating the music and iconic status for the artists that we love. This is a post series of interviews celebrating guitarists, drummers, pianists, DJs, producers, engineers, choreographers and artist managers of the music world. A celebration of the “UnSung heroes”.  Y&Y presents UnSung hero #1 Okiem Warmann, accomplished pianist, producer, songwriter and founder of successful youtube site “wannaplaypiano”. Interested yet? Check the Interview on the flipside.

Project Alfie x Y&Y | Acoustic Session | Cardy Films

posted by on 09/01/2012

So far this collaboration with Cardy Films has created some of our best work. The last 2 films – Charlie Allen (see here) and Joshua Bennett (see here) truly embody what the site is all about in terms of fashion and art. With this project we shifted the focus to the musical string to our bow, for our tag line reads – fashion, music, art & life. Olan’s films aren’t your average ‘music videos’, they’re masterpieces, something which adds to the aesthetic of Yin&Yang.

What Happens When You Give Thousands Of Stickers To Kids?

posted by on 09/01/2012

This is art. Place a group of Children in a blank white room and give them a few thousand coloured stickers – what do you think will happen? They’ll create art with them. By filling the blank canvas with stickers without any care for how they’d look on the wall – no patterns, trends or acknowledgement of the sicker arrangement. This amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art by artist Yayoi Kusama who constructed a simple domestic environment for the young visitors of the museum to plaster it with  thousands of coloured to stickers. Brilliant. Hop on after the cut.

A little late with this post, was hoping to have it up last night but seeing that I was bedridden from around 7pm so that just wasn’t going to happen. I hate being ill, been fighting off a cold ever since Christmas and it started to get the better of me last night – headache. Feeling a lot better now so hop on after the cut for our top 5 songs of the week.

Disturbing London x MHI – Spring/Summer 2012

posted by on 08/01/2012

Well this is rather unexpected, never did I expect Tinie‘s merchandise line ‘Disturbing London‘ to grow in such away. This collaboration with MHI sees the rapper’s collection co-create some fine garments including patterned cut & sew shirts, slim fit chinos as well as the standard sweatshirts and tees. Still pleasantly surprised, the photography is nicely done too. Well Tinie does have the brand name and finance to pull this off. You’d be hating if you don’t see any growth here. Hop on after the cut to see the whole collection.

Heineken QR Code Campaign

posted by on 07/01/2012

QR codes which have failed to engage with a mass audience are ressurected in Heineken’s campiagn ‘Open Your World‘. The booze dispenser debuted the campaign at this year’s Open’er music festival in Poland, where festival go’ers would visit the Heineken tent to personlise and print out their own QR code. The code which was carried in the form of a sticker, was an attempt to encourage festival go’ers to meet new people and make new friends by scanning each other and ‘creating conversation’.  Watch the video after the break.

Burberry Spring/Summer 2012 Campaign

posted by on 06/01/2012

This is a little lackluster for me even though I can see where they were going with this. Simplicity; plain white studio background so the focus is primarily on the clothing and the models. I much prefer last year’s shots of the Jourdan Dunn and co on the pebble beach in Brighton. It just felt like it had a little bit more ‘life’ – however this one is a nicely shot studio lookbook by acclaimed photographer Mario Testino. Burberry’s SS12 campaign features British actor Eddie Redmayne (who?) and the ever so beautiful Cara Delevigne – the nekkid under trenchcoat thing is always a winner with me. I’m never a fan of the male models in Burberry ads, maybe because I’m slightly jealous by the fact they get free trenchcoats? New images will be introduced every month throughout the season. More images on the reverse.
