Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Unicef's Photograph Of The Year 2011

posted by on 27/12/2011

I need to travel. Not just to NYC but to new places, new cultures to be absorbed in…away from the MEDCs. Unicef photo of the year award is one given to photographers who capture the personalities and living conditions of children around the world in an outstanding manner. Not only does the award highlight and reward a photographer’s ability to capture the children‘s situation beautifully. The real aim of the award is to help increase the awareness of children’s suffering. I know some of you may think ‘a photograph isn’t going to change their situation‘ but images have the unique ability to show us how they (the children) experience the world, images are way better than words to show us this. Check out some of this year’s winners and honourable mentions on the flipside.

We’ve had some huge scraps this year in the world of film and everyone has got in on the act; Apes, Gods, and robots have all settled their disputes by taking out their enemies in violent and sometimes brutal fashion. I guess talking it out was out of the question. Find out who got the best hits in after the jump.

Brewer – Questions | Music Video By Olan Collardy

posted by on 26/12/2011

Dayum. Friend of the site, Olan Collardy really outdid himself with his latest visual masterpiece – a music video for up and coming London based rapper Brewer. Wait wait, hold your horses. When you hear the words; up and coming, London and rapper in the same sentence, y’all instantly think ‘oh no Channel AKA!’. This video is the complete opposite, it’s classy and the song? Just as good. Brewer has a steady flow, lyrically sound and this time he questions everything that’s wrong with him in relationships. I’ve been impressed with his music so far, look forward to what he’s got to offer in 2012. Hop on after the cut to see the video.

Dope Quote #32

posted by on 26/12/2011

This year, I’ve had some great victories in my life. Goals that were set way before the start of the year, I don’t do resolutions! these were personal goals such as graduating from university and finding a job. Resolutions are nice, if you can stick by them – I’m a goal orientated person, always have set goals for myself throughout my life on where I want to be and what I want to do. The latter seems to changed all to often as circumstances and new doors & avenues open up  out of nowhere but that’s the beauty of life. Visualising your victory can help us look and hone our focus onto our long term goals. The struggle is part of the process, it’s thrill of growing and changing that I most look forward to. One day at a time folks! Right…time to get to work.

Topman 2012 Spring/Summer Lookbook | Part 2

posted by on 25/12/2011

I CAN”T i just can’t with this model and these dainty poses that he is pulling. Not long ago I posted part one of Topman‘s 2012 Spring/Summer lookbook and in that post I shared my dislike for the collection . Well this is part two of that collection and I can’t really say it has gotten considerable better. I’m not gonna lie there is a slight improvement, however Im not here for his model and the way he is trying to showcase the clothes. He plays a big part in my dislike for this section of the collection, the clothes themselves don’t help but like i said at the beginning I can’t with this model smh. Anywho peep the rest on the flipside.

Striver's Row | Miles Hodges – Harlem

posted by on 25/12/2011

I’ve been sitting on this video for the past few days, why? I wasn’t sure if I would do the video any justice with my words. It’s one of them videos that will leave you speechless, both visually and audibly mind blowing. Spoken word has been around for yonkers but to me it feels like 2011 has been the year that it’s real emerged into the mainstream spotlight. Striver’s Row is a collective of talented NYC-based spoken word artists including college junior Miles Hodges, who recites his poem ‘Harlem‘ in this video. It’s a tribute to the NYC district – every word that comes out of his mouth is a bullet, powerful. The visuals by the exceptionally talented Andre Wagner of AbstractElements is equally as good. Watch it on the reverse, you won’t regret it.

Tiny London

Gosh I love this city. Mario Muth spent 2 months travelling around the city, shooting photographs from several public vantage points, private offices that he was allowed access to and obviously places where he shouldn’t have been. You’ll probably recognise a lot of these spots and if you’re a photographer – you’ll be wondering how the eff he managed to get access to these places! half of these would have been ideal for my LDN.365 series. You know none of this video was actually shot as a video – they’re all RAW images, post processed in After Effects to achieve the tilt shift look. Who needs a fancy tilt shift lens? More on the reverse.

Shakka – Take Our Time | Music Video

posted by on 24/12/2011

He definitely took his TIME to release this video! think we previewed it a good 3-4 months ago on the site. Shakka’s released a few incredible Shakkapella’s in that time – click here to check them out. The ‘Take Our Time‘ video features Shakka meeting a woman (Hannah Ogahara) and taking it ‘easy’ with her as they galavant and dance through Notting Hill/Ladbroke Grove area. I can’t help but think she’s helping him walk at one point in the video – it looks like he’s walking with a limp! Haha. I’m excited to see what he brings out in 2012. Video on the reverse.
