Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Müller's Wunderful Stuff Campaign

posted by on 02/12/2011

Apparently this is old but what the heck, hello childhood. Who remembers watching Yogi Bear on cable TV Cartoon Network? Nope he won’t be making a return to your TV screen any time soon. This is in fact a Müller yoghurt advert that takes us down the nostalgic route. To be honest, on first watch I was blown away by the visuals then my brain started functioning and realised this advert is just  so desperately trying to make the brand look somewhat cool. That effect it’ll have on many but the ones with a little common sense will notice this is £20 million fail from TBWA. Why would Kitt of all cars managed to get a parking ticket? and since when was Mutley a Good Samaritan? Fail on that part. Visually, it’s brilliant but it genuinely lacks any concept. More on the reverse.

Beats By Dre x Colour Campaign

posted by on 01/12/2011

Here come the where’s DETOX discussions. Dr. Dre makes an appearance in the latest Beats by Dre commercial and his collaboration with electronic accessories company Monster just seems to be getting stronger and stronger. Whoever linked the two together deserves awards, perhaps a million dollar cheque – perfect link up between brand and celebrity. Dre’s career was starting to fade and now he’s EVERYWHERE and RICHER without even making music. If he were ever to release that Detox album, imagine the marketing potential with the Beats By Dre platform. In all honesty, has he fallen out of love with the ‘creating’ music? He’s probably making a hell of a lot more money this way. The campaign featuring the likes of DJ Mia, Justin Eldrige and Levi Maestro is pretty impressive, nicely shot with the slow of the balloon exploding. Wish they used better typography at the end….that’s just me being a picky designer.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 01/12/2011

Brandy is one artist that I feel is so underrated. Her vocals are always on point and when she sings live you sometimes have to question whether she is miming or not because she sings that good. I was reading an article on another blog the other day and it had a quote from singer/songwriter/producer Sean Garrett stating that her new single will be very commercial and should be released to radio before Christmas. So it seems exciting times are on their way if you’re a Brandy fan but for those who loved and still love her older material I have selected a track from her back catalogue that i’m sure will please all. Peep the song after the cut. P.S I previously dedicated a Throwback Thursday post to Brandy where I showcased a number of her tracks, see here.

Topman Generation Magazine

posted by on 01/12/2011

Topman joins the world of online publishing with its new digital magazine, Topman Generation. It launched yesterday and the first issue is a double edition featuring the likes of Kirstin Dunst, Ezra Miller and more. There was much hype in build up to its launch, especially with Former Dazed Digital editor in charge of content and Saatchi & Saatchi taking care of the design side of things. What’s my take on it? Bitterly disappointed. Opening up the page to see a huge ass feature on Yoko Ono (?) will probably turn away a lot of people, come on now. This design is way too busy with all the little rectangles, images and retro scanlines. I don’t know the whole browsing experience just doesn’t seem to work for me, what do you guys think? If you love fashion, film, music, sport and art then this magazine hopes to have something for you. It certainly didn’t have any of that for me. They need to take a lesson or two from Mr. Porter – perfect mix of design and functionality. What do you guys think?
