Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Stonehenge Visit – Photo Story

posted by on 31/12/2011

One thing I mentioned in my ‘Reflecting on my 2011‘ post was time and how certain sacrifices had to be made. Some of my closest childhood friends have become strangers over the past year and in that time, strangers have become close friends. However there’s one set of friends that will always be there, even if we only see each other once or twice a year – it’ll always be fun: filled with jokes and laughter. Sounds cheesier than a disney film, but it’s true. What we usually do when we catch up is play FIFA/PES/COD for hours on end and consume unacceptable amounts of junk food. Now that we’re all somewhat grown, I suggested we should do something different; so we ended up at Stonehenge.

posted by on 31/12/2011

2012 is just around the corner and with it comes a whole host of movies. As well as the essential original concepts, we’ve got sequels, threequels, prequels and reboots coming our way. Needless to say, 2012 is going to be a great year for films. So great in fact, that a wealth of fantastic-looking films failed to make the final 10. Hit the jump for my list of essential viewing for 2012.

For the upcoming season Benetton present us with a colourful selection featuring pieces such as the classic V-neck sweater, beautiful cardigans, vests and print shorts. I don’t really have much else to say about the collection other than it’s kind of what you would expect to see from Benetton. Take a look for yourself.

Kyle Bean | Laundry Day

posted by on 30/12/2011

Been looking at more of Kyle Bean‘s work and I came across this stop-frame  animated video called Laundry Day. The animation features pieces of clothing escaping from laundry baskets and then racing down the street for the local launderette. Don’t you wish your clothes would follow suit? I do! Watch the video after the break.

If Logos Were Honest

posted by on 29/12/2011

Haha you’ve got to love Viktor Hertz‘s work, it’s honest, a teeny bit cheeky but brilliant. It’s guaranteed to make you laugh – he’s turned some of the most popular corporate brand logos into satirical designs. They’re all honest, you’ll find yourself agreeing with most of them unless you work at the company and are in blind denial. The honest logos are all about revealing the actual content of the company behind all the advertising and marketing campaigns. Hop on after the cut to see them all.

Jack & Jones – Knitted Jumper

posted by on 29/12/2011

See before this year, I never ever owned a propa’ winter coat. I’d just layer up to the max in the colder seasons: gloves, scarves, hats – the lot. You know how some guys boast about their extensive limited edition marvel-g-shock-casio-your-mum-insertNFLteam-collaboration ‘snapback/new era’ collections, you guys need to see my winter hat collection. At least 30 different types of wooly wonders and I keep adding more, strange addiction. However hats are just one part of the winter equation, the real statement piece has to be the knitwear. The final layer in the pile and it’s essential to have a few solid knits in the wardrobe. Especially for those lazy days where you can’t be bothered to iron your shirt! Throw a knit on it.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 29/12/2011

Yes, jacked this post again! I’m going to feature the song that I was initially going to post up last week. It’s one of two songs that I downloaded as soon as I installed Sean Parker’s Napstar in ’99. Those early teen years where I really didn’t understand that I was doing something illegal and I’m not sure if I should freely admit that now since they’ll probably want me to fine for the activity. Hmm, too late. 56k was the bane of my life back then, they way it would disconnect whenever someone answered the house phone! not to mention a single song took around 30-40 minutes to download. The song is by a Jamaican and nope, not Sean Paul. BOMBASTIC – hop on after the cut.

Style Focus: Luigi Tadini

posted by on 28/12/2011

GQ describe him as a ‘street style action-figure‘, Luigi Tadini has got to be one of the best dressed men that I’ve come across. I stumbled across him yesterday while I was researching street fashion photographs – he seemed to be on EVERY street style blog, at every fashion week and his outfits always looked on point. Sao Paulo born style maven effortlessly carries any look that he’s seen in, just look at the image below with him in a kilt and a varsity. It just works. He’s the director of Paper-Magazine and obviously a model on the side. The sophistication of his layered outfits can’t be pulled off by everyone, look at the gloves above – it’s not something I’d wear but works on well on him. More on the reverse.

Momentos by Nuno Rocha

posted by on 28/12/2011

Momentos is a touching an award-winning short film by Nuno Rocha a film-maker and though it’s been out a long while, it’s brand new to me! Nuno created this film for LG and I think it’s safe to say you would have never known if the logo didn’t appear at the end. Instantly I was taken by the style of the film- it’s dark and gritty look; however it was the combination of trying to grasp the jist of the story and the emotive music that I found simply captivating. I thought it was a really effective method of story telling even though I would have liked to have heard something toward the end of the short film from one of the characters…even it it was just a line; I think it would have made the clip much more memorable. Watch the short film after the break.

Mixtape | Project Alfie

posted by on 27/12/2011

Having released a few songs from the set and an exclusive track recorded especially for Y&Y (see here) Project Alfie has finally released his first mixtape. The 5 song set sees Alfie crooning over some classic hip-hop giving each of the classic songs a new and fresh aura. My faves from the collection happen to be the two tracks he released to the public before the mixtape was released however once I’ve listened to ‘Family Business’ a few more times im sure that will be a firm favourite too. Follow @ProjectAlfie on twitter to keep up to date with his musical  goings on, also follow @ProducerCharlie who helped Alfie create this musical treat (Y&Y never forget the people behind the scenes). Download link for mixtape is on the flipside, so go ahead and click that read on button.
