Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Original Penguin Clondyke Boot

posted by on 17/11/2011

If you asked me a year or 2 ago about Original Penguin, my response would have been ‘the book publishers?’. I’m deadly serious, my fashion knowledge was abysmal till Y&Y launched. I had no clue of this brand till I was randomly invited to an event. This AW11 season marks a signification progression for Original Penguin’s fast growing and evolving collection of footwear. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the Clondyke boot. Doesn’t it remind you of Redwing boots? It’s not as heavy duty – it’s a full grain waxed leather boot available in rich Autumnal tones from burgundy to dark chocolate. Certainly comfy and definitely no where near as pricey as the Redwing. You can buy them here for £110. Now hop on after the cut to peep a few photographs I snapped of my colleague wearing them at work.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 17/11/2011

This week’s throwback is dedicated to the late Aaliyah, this isn’t a tribute as such but this week I’ve listened to her more than usual. There are plenty of great Aaliyah tracks but I have picked I Care 4 U- a true break up song as described by one of my friends. Whilst I think it’s a really depressing track, I like it best for her smooth vocals and Timbaland‘s once amazing production; the tune is R&B at it’s best- so chilled and relaxed making it a great one for easy listening. Listen to the track after the break.

This time it’s a video that features various cyclists and of course beautiful typography featuring the manifesto. Don’t get me started on doing what you love. It’s essential, end of. Nokia Humanform Concept Phone

posted by on 16/11/2011

In recent years we have become obsessed with fruity devices. Both Blackberry and the Apple iPhone have risen to the forefront so much so that it feels like they are the only two phone products on the market. Gone are the days when people used to seek out the latest release from Nokia. Although Nokia’s presence in the market hasn’t been as strong (mainly talking about here in the UK) it hasn’t stopped them from pushing the boundaries of creativity. Ready to seek out the next big thing in smartphone technology Nokia have revealed what they have been conjuring up at their HQ. The HumanForm Concept Phone has been slated as a “revolution in gesture based technology”. The teardrop shaped device can be functioned when twisted, bent and manipulated while users can also use the touchscreen interface to navigate through the phones software. Its hard to fully explain all the details of this phone so I suggest you watch the video on the flipside to get a better understanding of what this gadget can do.

Beats by Dr. Dre Executive Headphones

posted by on 16/11/2011

Now this I think will excite Yin. His love for all things sleek, sophisticated and refined will see him wanting these new Beats by Dre Executive headphones. Moving away from the more bold choice of colours such as red and white Monster have instead opted to target a more mature audience with this release. The brushed metal finish with the sleek black and grey accents add to the more refined and premium feel to the headphones. Will you be buying? I currently do not own a pair of beats but am very tempted by these.

Time Lapse View Of Earth From Space

posted by on 16/11/2011

Incredible. This is what the Silver Surfer must see on a daily basis whilst he flies around the universe hunting down new planets for Galactus. This time-lapse edited together by the incredibly talented Michael Koenig but much of the credit will have to go Ron Garan, Satoshia Furukawa and the crew on board the International Space Station who captured the sequences of photographs a few months ago. They were shot at an altitude of around 350km – oh boy, I don’t know if I could keep my hand still that HIGH up in the sky space. Imagine. Who knows there might be a  ‘Y&Y In Space‘ one day. Richard Branson, make it happen sir.

Zara – November Man Lookbook

posted by on 15/11/2011

When it comes to lookbooks, Zara always get it right. So simple, effortless and they let the clothes do the talking. I always say this but it’s a shame you can’t judge the quality of clothing from the images. Alas it’s all about the marketing and Zara have done it excellently. The clothing and styling is on point, a nice mixture of tailoring, knitwear and outerwear. Varying from dark/neutral colour hues to autumnal red and musky yellows. I appreciate the cut of their clothes, it’s just right when it comes to blazers and coats. In fact I’m looking for a winter coat, have been for the past few weeks but haven’t come across on that fits nicely. The blue one above is perfect, now to go find it at a store. Hop on after the cut for more imagery.

4g Coming To The UK

posted by on 15/11/2011

I’ve always wondered why we currently don’t have 4g capabilities here in the UK yet. Granted countries such as China and Japan are much more advanced and ahead of time when it comes to technology but if America have 4g capabilities then why don’t we? Fortunately network provider o2 feel the same way and are set to make amends by taking the first steps to introduce 4g to the UK. The trail will see 1000 participants test the system via the use of a Samsung dongle, the trial will enable users to get download speeds of approximately 100mps and will run until June 2012. The network will stretch from Hyde Park to The O2 in Greenwich and has been carefully designed to cover key areas of the capital, including Canary Wharf, Soho, Westminster, South Bank and Kings Cross, as indicated in the above picture. More after the cut.

Vice Magazine | Dalston Superstars

posted by on 15/11/2011

After months of talk, they actually had the cheek to commission this! Dalston Superstars follows 5 young creatives living in London’s “cool” district of Dalston, East London in a very similar format to hit series ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and ‘Made In Chelsea’. Taking into consideration that this is hosted on the Vice Network, I’m adamant that this has been designed purely for satirical reasons in which case I won’t kill myself. After watching the first ep, have to say it’s shocking… that is all I can say on the matter. If you’ve got 10 mins you would like to kill, then watch the video after the break and share your thoughts!
