Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Topman Smart Refined Collection

posted by on 20/11/2011

I’ve stated time and time again over the last couple weeks that Yin, Yang and myself have grown into and become more attracted to the sophisticated, refined and tailored look so when I see a collection called Smart Refined it obviously is going to spark my interest. However this collection from Topman I feel has fallen short of what I expected. This is probably due to the fact that not long ago Yin posted the November lookbook for Zara Man (see here), nobody does sophisticated, refined and tailored quite like them. Plus Topman were already at a disadvantage in terms of seeking a positive reaction from me because they only seem to cater to skinny bitches lol so people with a lil meat on their bones like myself are portrayed to be obese when trying on their clothes KMT. I’m personally underwhelmed by this collection however everyone has their own taste so you guys may like it, give it a look on the flipside.

Lanvin 2011 Autumn/Winter 'Who's Lanvin Man' Campaign

posted by on 20/11/2011

The series of photographs that you are about to see are what I would like to class as DOPE! As you know we here at Y&Y are very keen on shooting our own lookbook’s and take every opportunity to showcase our own photography talent so i’m just gonna put it out there, one day we’ll shoot a lookbook that can rival the way this one has been shot. I’m more admiring the photographs rather than the garments Lanvin have on offer which is not the purpose however If the photographs have made me feel something strong enough to post and share them with you all today then I guess the campaign has done it’s job.

Expert Enough Manifesto

posted by on 19/11/2011

Up at 7am on a Saturday, I need to get ready and head to Yang’s for a morning of feature shoots. Lots of product reviews coming your way! @GeekySneaks linked me to this manifesto the other night – incredibly inspiring manifesto that a lot of people need to realise. Most of us already live by this mantra but a lot of us are controlled by our worldly problems that we forget about the brilliance that lies within us. We have just got to learn to unlock it by tapping into it. Hop on after the cut to read the manifesto, go digest it.

Pain. Passion. Poetry. – Choosy Lover

posted by on 19/11/2011

I’m a choosy person, I continue to believe this is why I’ve been single for five years and not because I’m destined to lay naked on my bedroom floor screaming Adele lyrics at my twenty-seven cats. Hopefully this poem shows a little bit more why I’m so choosy.

Sandro Homme 2011 Autumn/Winter Lookbook

posted by on 19/11/2011

On Monday November 21st Selfridges London will become home to a new concession in the form of Sandro Homme. This will be the first concession for the brand and is the first step to making their clothes accessible to more people. As you can see, the collection fits Y&Y current feel for refined, contemporary and tailored clothing. I’m sure Yin, Yang and myself will be venturing to Selfridges soon to give this collection a closer inspection but until then we’ll have to settle with this lookbook. Take a look and let me know what you think.

The A21 Campaign

posted by on 19/11/2011

Brace yourself, this video isn’t for the light hearted. I watched it at an event a few weeks back, never have I felt so selfish and so grateful for my freedom. We live in the so called ‘golden age of freedom‘ and yet slavery is at an all time high. Martin Luther King and Gandhi may have won freedom for their people but 27 million people around the world are currently deprived of their freedom. Of that 27, 11 million are sex slaves. How have we let this happen? Whereas first world problems include missing out the H&M x Versace collaboration after queuing 24 hours for it. We forget what’s happening in the world around us with all these distractions, including materialism. Sigh. More on the reverse.

Ebay To Open Store | Five-Day Experiment

posted by on 18/11/2011

On December 1st, Ebay will launch its first ever store! But unfortunately it’s only a small pop up open for 5 days closing on 5th December. The Ebay store that will open on Dean Street which is just off Oxford Circus is not going to be a conventional retail store and will feature a limited selection of products giving you the chance to sample/test them out before buying them as opposed to making a gamble like the current Ebay system. More after the break.

United Colors Of Bennetton's Unhate Campaign

posted by on 18/11/2011

Hahahaha PAUSE. I’m a little creeped out by the latest advertising campaign by highly controversial Italian retailer, United Colors of Benneton. The campaign titled ‘Unhate‘ wants the world to stop hating as simple as that. They’ve photoshop‘d photographs featuring some of the world’s most powerful men and women kissing each other – apparently this was aimed to foster tolerance and spread ‘global love‘ with everything that is going on in the world. I’m sure the retailer hoped the images would be seen as symbolic images of togetherness and resolution through love. Lies! I’m sure they knew what they were getting into with this. Obama kisses Hugo Chavez while Israeli Prime Minster and Palestine President lock lips amongst others. As always they did take it that one step too far with an image of the Pope kissing the Egyptian Imam which they were forced to take down. You don’t want to eff with the Vatican, have you not seen Angels & Demons!? Haha. More after the cut.

Film Review | Immortals

posted by on 18/11/2011

We’ve had many great sword-and-sandals epics over the years, with Gladiator, Troy, and most recently 300 setting the benchmark for the genre in contemporary times. Unfortunately, as with any genre, there are those movies that scrape the bottom of the barrel, such as the modern remake of Clash of the Titans. Tarsem Singh’s Immortals is made by the producers of 300, and trailers have suggested that the look and feel of the film was similar to the Spartan blockbuster. Can Immortals reach the lofty heights of 300 & co or is it style over substance? Hit the jump for my spoiler-free review.
