Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Film Flashback #3 – Unbreakable

posted by on 22/11/2011

11 years to the day: Unbreakable released November 22, 2000

With films such as The Last Airbender and The Happening, it’s sometimes easy to forget that M. Night Shyamalan has also given us some great movies in the forms of Signs and The Sixth Sense. His follow up to the latter film was Unbreakable, which offers a unique retelling of the traditional superhero origin story. In 2009, Oscar-winning filmmaker and fan of the film Quentin Tarantino smartly stated that Unbreakable would have been better marketed with the tagline ‘What if Superman was here on earth, and didn’t know he was Superman?’ With that, it’s prudent to say that this is not your usual superhero flick. Hit the jump to find out what separates Unbreakable from the norm.

Olan Collardy's Beauty In The Wild | Fashion Short

posted by on 22/11/2011

I came across Olan’s work a fortnight ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. He’s released 4 videos in that time and if any of you have played around with video editing in the past then you know it takes a certain amount of skill and patience to pull it off with this much quality. Best believe this film featuring 2 beautiful women – in fact they were both Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model 2011 finalists was shot, edited, colour graded in a day. Have a gander at this post from yesterday featuring nature photography. Olan has managed to fuse nature’s beauty with the natural beauty of both Joanne Northey and Ufuoma Itoje perfectly. Something tells me this isn’t the last we’ll see of Mr. Collardy’s work on Y&Y. Watch on the reverse.

Dope Quote #28

posted by on 22/11/2011

The process of getting there can be so long and off putting at times. I’ve been working for a little over 6 months now, still very much in love my job but I know this 9-6 routine isn’t for me in the long run. Right now it is, like Tahirah said to me a few weeks ago… ‘You learn, you earn and then you give. I’m still in the learning stage of my life and there’s no point of me trying to rush to start new things. I’ve learnt to be happy with where I am on the way to where I’m going. Contentment & ambition. I know I’ll get there eventually, just have to keep believing and persevering. Happy Tuesday (I’m a day late with this post)

Enchanted Forest

posted by on 22/11/2011

We all adore 21st century modernist architecture  but it’s fair to say that it’s incomparable to nature’s divine beauty, it will always prevail. No effort or human resource needed to make nature look beautiful. Yet we have roamed the planet for over 2000 years destroying it and building concrete jungles over it. We have failed to appreciate what has been given to us. Typical. Yesterday I read about the extinction of black rhino which was depressing, another example of human greed and crime. Shoot, sorry I got all deep again! This time all green peace on yo’ asses. Take a glance at Ohio-based photographer Joy St. Claire‘s work after the cut.

SEASON FINALE! I hate that this episode left me wanting more and the wait is going to be epic as always with HBO series. Wonder what decision Ben will make after last week’s Crisp by Yosi nonsense? Will the money overshadow his friendship? What will René do about the Yardies? As you can tell, I really don’t want to ruin this episode for you. Watch it after the cut.

Steve Jobs Brainstorm With NeXT Team

posted by on 21/11/2011

Seeing as DJB’s taking over the Dope Quote for today, I felt I needed a way to On second thoughts, I’ll be doing Dope Quote after I finish writing this post. Steve Jobs passed away over a month ago and he’s still pretty much in the media spotlight. His legacy will live on forever but what made him so special in comparison to his competitors? We get to see the visionary’s creative thinking during a NeXT brainstorm in the period of his career that where he picked up a lot of skills that have made Apple a success. This video is a snippet taking from a series called Entrepreneurs that documents the creation of NeXT from a behind-the-scenes perspective. Notice how he quickly shuts down any stupid ideas from his team. Truly amazing footage from the vault. Watch it on the reverse.

For every grown and sophisticated man Zara provides for theres a young man waiting in the wings and it is these young men that this collection caters for. Preparing the young for the main collection these garments combine youthfulness with the classic refined and tailored lines that we have become accustomed to from Zara. I normally prefer the main Zara Man collections however this Young Man collection is doing a lot to spark my interest. I think I may have to call my bank manager and tell him to not be too alarmed when I start swiping the hell out of my card. Do you like? See the rest when you read on.

posted by on 20/11/2011

Incredible! Guess where this is? LONDON. Reebok teamed up with artists 3D Joe and Max to break the Guiness World Record for the largest ever 3D Street art, why are they doing this? To promote the launch of the CrossFit which is a revolutionary strength and conditioning programme. They created this epic painting in a week at London’s West India Quays in Canary Wharf. Luckily for them that place is only really busy on weekends…when it’s warm. They’ve laid out several of the CrossFit workout of the day equipment across the 1,160.4m²  artwork so anyone can take part in the daily workout as they walk by. Watch the video on the reverse.
