Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Anthony Burrill's Design Mantras

posted by on 25/11/2011

Drool. These are SIMPLE but ever so effective. I’ve used that line a plethora of times but this time it’s 100% true about Anthony Burrill‘s design aesthetic. He’s one of the greatest graphic designers alive and it’s only natural to pass on some of that knowledge and wisdom. He does this through his clever posters with incredible bold typography featuring words that have become to live by for those in the design realm. A witty approach towards with colour and boldness, always works. I’m actually in the process of redesigning my room and my plan was to design a bunch of simple typographic posters featuring some of favourite quotes. You know inspiration on the wall whenever you need it type thing.

Plan UK – Charity's Innovative Digital Campaign

posted by on 25/11/2011

Before we get started, my other half is writing this post. I’ll let her take over….

Here’s a bit of a random question for you: do you think your birth certificate is just any old piece of paper? Think again – and then seriously re-think that…again again. There are 75 million young girls all around the world born without a registered birth certificate. Sadly, these girls are often forced into pre-mature marriage and/or are denied the right to a proper education. PLAN UK is fully breaking the mould of charity fundraising with their latest ‘Because I’m a Girl’ campaign. Last week saw the launch of a pretty amazing and truly thought-provoking next generation interactive video app on Facebook, which puts you – yes, YOU in the shoesies of these less fortunate girls.

NIKEiD Premium Edition Toki

posted by on 25/11/2011

One of the perks of working so close to Oxford Circus is the ability to attend daytime press events in the local vicinity during my lunch break. Chyea. Yesterday Nike invited me down to their UK flagship store to design a silhouette add to the NIKEiD on Oxford Circus, Nike Town. Anyone who’s been reading the site will know that I used to be quite the sneakerhead and buying iDs would frequently massacre my bank account. More on the reverse.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 24/11/2011

Whilst doing my crazy 13 hour shift yesterday this song from Nivea popped into my head and just wouldn’t leave. All day I was singing and humming it, at one stage I even started dancing as if it was playing through speakers suffice to say it wasn’t. ‘Don’t Mess With My Man’ put Nivea on the map but unfortunately her subsequent releases didn’t grab audiences attention like this song did and so she soon fell of this theoretic map. For those who don’t know she has an album called Complicated which I believe was only released in Japan, if you don’t have this album then I suggest you go get it because it’s kinda dope. Anywho peep the old joint if wish!

J.J. Mercer 2012 Spring/Summer Lookbook

posted by on 24/11/2011

To describe this lookbook as rustic may be the wrong choice of words but for some reason when I look at the lookbook that is the word that comes to mind. It’s more so the sepia tinted pics that have me using that particular word. The lookbook in question is brought to us by J.J. Mercer and it showcases pieces from their 2012 Spring/Summer Collection. Its hard to comprehend wearing clothes suitable for the summer months when its colder than the Antarctic outside but hey thats what fashion is all about, looking toward the future trends.

I think it’s safe to say most people have heard of/been to Apostrophe whether on your lunch break or just  a  visit, I always remember them for their extremely thick and creamy hot chocolate! Celebrating 10 years since the launch of it’s first store in Shoreditch, the capital’s leading cafe will be launching a range of initiatives in the coming year including breakfast deals and a loyalty card. Address Is Appropriate | Stop Motion Toy Story

posted by on 23/11/2011

Oh wow, this warms my heart and eyes. If you have a few minutes to spare, I suggest you click play on the video after the cut. Director Tony Jenkins‘ personal project over the past few months was this short film revolving around the dreams of his lonely desk toy wants to escape his confined world to the Pacific Coast. He uses a stop-motion animation and imagery from Google Maps Street View to make this happen MADNESS. It’s so delightfully filmed, you’ll drool. This is shot better than 90% of things I’ve watched on TV in the past 12 months -  he uses a Canon 5D MKII and the Google Maps screen imagery was animated during post proccessing. Right where’s my Goku teddy? I’m going to take him to work after watching this #PAUSE. Watch the video on the reverse.

Lucozade Aurasma – Plan B + Tinie Tempah

posted by on 23/11/2011

Heard of Aurasma? It’s the world’s first visual browser. Bet that doesn’t mean anything to you guys – it’s a piece of software that utilises your smartphone camera, GPS, bluetooth, WiFi/3g and combines this with image recognition technology which helps create a conceptual understanding of the 3D World to recognise objects which can seamlessly augmented reality actions into the scene. My friend and his co-workers over at Billington Cartmell have exploited this innovative technology and incorporated Aurasma’s interface so that it recognises the 3D surface of the bottle and plays back exclusive video content from artists Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Yasmin and more. Each of the artists designed their own limited edition bottles and the Aurasma ability gives the smartphone user the option to watch the ‘making ofdocumentary with a simple touch of the screen. Nike Sportswear (RED) Capsule Collection

posted by on 23/11/2011

December 1st marks the World Aids Day and Nike are teaming up with charity (RED) again by releasing a new collection in red to raise awareness and to inspire action to support the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa. Although Nike have been in controversial sweatshop/fair trade scandals over the years, they’ve definitely cleaned up their act and giving back is always the best answer. They’ve developed a strong tradition of utilising the power of sport to elevate global causes using their sponsored athletes, product and sports events to ignite engagement. The collection features 3 items – A Melton Destroyer (which I think should have been called Peacoat Destroyer for comedy reasons), Cheyenne Backpack and the technical Zoom Meriweather. All of the products stream quality, fine leather, waterproof construction with the Nike x (RED) branding over it. More on the reverse.
