The Brooklyn Circus x Tricker's – Brogue Boots

posted by on 23/10/2011

I’ve been searching for a fine pair of brogue boots for the past few weeks, I know boots are going to be back in this season but I don’t want the typical distressed All Saints/River Island boot that everyone is going to be wearing. The term ‘Brogue’ derives from the Gaelic term for shoe – it’s been around for centuries since the Elizabethan age, not quite as evolved back then but it was all about the decorations on the shoes. It was not till the 19th century that it was seen as a fine piece of gentleman‘s footwear thanks to Edward, Prince of Wales who broke yet another Royal sartorial rule of dress etiquette (plain shoes!) by embracing the brogue. I’ve had my eye on 2 pairs, the cheaper option – H&M’s imitation leather boot for £35 and the H by Hudson brogue boots for £135. Then I stumbled across this pair on the interweb – they are the SEX. The leather quality looks incredibly and I’ve never seen this colourway before; the two-tone black upper with brown wooden sole works so well. More on the reverse.

Saying that, my Grenson brogues are easily my favourite footwear purchase in the past year. The price justifies the quality and comfort. Have a gander at the rest of the images below of the black boot, you can peep the other colourway here.
