Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Goodbye | Film Review

posted by on 28/10/2011

Political tension surrounds director Mohammad Rasoulof’s latest offering, Goodbye. Rasoulof, along with collaborator Jafar Panahi, was arrested in 2009 for filming without permission and sentenced to prison. Thankfully, the sentence has yet to be carried out and the state granted Rasoulof permission to direct a new film. Some might question the wisdom of Rasoulof releasing a film of this nature in his current predicament. However, any way you slice it, it takes courage to do so, and Goodbye proved to be an interesting watch. Check my review out after the jump.

Black Milk and Danny Brown – Black and Brown EP

posted by on 28/10/2011

Detroit’s finest, producer Black Milk and rapper Danny Brown hook up to release a joint ep, aptly titled “Black and Brown”. If you are unfamiliar with Fools Gold signee, Danny Brown, then I must warn you his lyrics are most certainly not safe for work! Famed for his grit, profane, sexually explicit content laced with one of the most distinguishable voices in Hip Hop today, Danny is raw! An old-school flow and attitude, placed over innovative, futuristic production from Black Milk make for an interesting, unusual Hip Hop ep. Hit the jump to stream two of today’s uncategorisable musicians. Yes I made that word up! Black and Danny are the new school!!

Carnage – BFI London | Film Review

posted by on 28/10/2011

Roman Polanski embarks on the small stage for his latest film adaptation. Yasmina Reza’s play titled, “God Of Carnage” has been transformed into a well-received big-screen movie by Polanski named, “Carnage” which I had the pleasure of seeing at the BFI Festival, in partnership with American Express. Starring Kate WinsletChristoph Waltz, Jodie Foster and John C. Reilly the film gives an in-depth insight into a tense, satirical altercation between two couples, set in Brooklyn, New York. The entire movie is set in one apartment which, combined with the close-up camera shots and frenzied dialogue ensured that the primary aspects of the original play, were continued into the movie adaptation. Hit the jump to read my first ever film review, watch the trailer and see why it made me  NEVER want to get married.

Video: Beyonce – Party ft J.Cole

posted by on 27/10/2011

Beyonce hooks up with J.Cole to shoot the visuals for the second remix of her track, Party. Set in a trailer park garden full of cool friends including Theophilus London, sister Solange, Cassie, Kelly Rowland and others, the video takes it back to the old school with neon outfits, crazy nails and an inflatable pool which really just makes you wish you were there! It’s lovely to see the beautiful Solange making an appearance in this video, it seems Beyonce was feeling rather nostalgic when she decided on the cast for this shoot as even former band mate, Kelly Rowland makes an appearance! Hit the jump for shots of fun, around 15 outfit and hair changes by Beyonce and an amazing Keith Harring dress I would die for!

Oyster Shucking @ Patara London

posted by on 27/10/2011

I went to an Oyster shucking event at Patara, a thai restaurant on Greek Street, Soho. I had never tasted or even held and oyster before I attended this event and I to be honest, I wasn’t exactly dying to try them either. But I’m glad i did, now I know I don’t like them in their pure state but when deep fried…I’ll order a dozen. I also learnt how to effectively kill oysters and arrange them neatly to be devoured. Throwback Thursday

posted by on 27/10/2011

This week’s throwback track is slightly different, quite a popular pop/rock song from the 80s with an iconic video that has inspired many artists. If you’re thinking one man with a microphone leading a band consisting of all female high fashion models then you’re right, it’s Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer. An 80′s classic, it’s been performed by many artists since debut and even Tina Turner recorded her own version which is also good but they say nothing beats the original. It’s one of my favourite songs, I wish they made music like this today because I’m really about 60. Enjoy the track after the break.

J. Cole – 'Lost Ones' | Music Video

posted by on 26/10/2011

Finally the visuals for Lost Ones off J. Cole‘s album Coleworld: The Sideline Story have been released. Now it’s been said that the video was actually shot in 2008 before his deal with Roc-Nation. Props to Cole and his team to how under raps they kept this. For those of you that have listened to the album, you’ll know that this is one of Cole’s most evoking songs on there, where it talks of the trials and tribulations of have an unexpected baby on the way and whether him and his girl are ready for such. We all know having children is not the most easiest of tasks especially when you’re not able to provide for one.

Reiss – Tailoring Takeover Week

posted by on 26/10/2011

Denim jacket? Jordans? Snapbacks? Wear All 3 together? Your ‘swag‘ will never equal that of a man in a fine tailored suit. Ask any lady – I’ll guarantee they’ll say the same. There’s just something about dressing formally that makes you feel ‘good’, je ne sais quoi. Dress the way you’d like to be addressed. Reiss are one of the best when it comes to suits, well ready-to-wear suits – the cuts in this latest shoot called the ‘Tailoring Takeover Week’ are perfect. I love the styling, photography and overall composition – need to do a shoot like this SOON. More after the cut.

Ikea Eco Homes | London 2012 Olympics

posted by on 26/10/2011

The London Olympics is less than 12 months away now and I am starting to get very excited for many different reasons. One reason is obviously the potential for me to actually play in the Olympics with the GB football team but I am equally as excited because of non-sporting reasons. You cannot doubt the positive legacy that the Olympics is going to leave on East London and London in general despite some of the typical negative naysayers who go on and on about how the tube system will be rubbish blah blah blah! I choose to focus on the positive Olympic inspired projects like the Ikea eco-homes project. More on the project after the jump.

A Stormtrooper's Pursuit of Happiness

posted by on 25/10/2011

Don’t you just love it when you stumble across something so simple, random but beautiful that instantly puts a smile on your face. Yeah this did just that to me at work. I was full on cheesing, had to share it with a few of my colleagues. Well the nerdy ones who also shared an appreciation for all things Star Wars Kristina Alexanderson, a 40 year old who has been trying to portray the faceless evil Stormtroopers in a new light, one that is full of love & kindness. She’s managed to successfully do just that with scenes featuring one of Darth Vader’s henchmen tenderly carrying his son. You have to see it to believe it, continues after the jump.
