Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Andy Morahan – In Search Of Incredible

posted by on 07/09/2011

Our graduation ceremony had several guest speakers, all of which were alumni’s of the university. One in particular grabbed my attention through his art – I can’t remember his name but he was playing back sounds that he had captured through out his career. Mostly of wildlife, they were absolutely incredible. It’s definitely an art to capture such beautiful sounds, it’s what I love about creativity – you can do just about anything! possibilities are endless. Andy Morahan does just that, he’s on the hunt to capture the unmistakable cry of a peacock as it echoes reverberate around the vaulted ceilings of the cathedral.

Proper Goods

Gah, I honestly didn’t want to share this gem with anyone but that would beat the point of Y&Y since we’re all about introducing our readers to new things that we discover. Numerous people have stopped me in recent weeks asking where I purchased my two-finger wooden ring from and my response would be ‘India‘. In truth, I purchased it online from a London-based wooden accessories maker, Ollie Adegboye. More on the reverse.

Topman Peacoat Project

posted by on 06/09/2011

I came across this on the UK menswear retailer’s Facebook last Friday whilst doing some work related research. One thumbnail grabbed my attention instantly so to did the title ‘Peacoat Project’. I’ve never owned one in my life but now is a good time to invest before the A/W weather properly kicks in. I know my Cagoule will suffice through the current conditions though! Topman have teamed up with some of the top menswear designers from around the world to add their unique touch to the classic peacoat silhouette. Continues on the reverse.

Truth And Lies | Poster Series

posted by on 06/09/2011

I know we’ve all done the above, don’t lie! Apologies for the lack of ‘art’ content in recent weeks, I’m going to change that starting with this post. Graphic designer Justin Barber takes a close look at some of the most common, everyday lies that we all tell ourselves and hear from others, and translates them into the brutal truth version below . In other words, this is what you say and this is what you mean type situations. I love how he’s visually converted each one into a poster with a bold graphic as the centre of attention. Have a gander at the rest of them after the cut, see if you can relate.

I had a worrying feeling that we might not be able to deliver EARGASMS at all this week with the lack of song updates but hey the team came through with a dope selections as always. New songs for your iTunes library just in time for the new week. Let’s get started then. P.S. If you’re wondering why there are 2 semi-naked guys in the image above, it’s RHCP! shot by Terry Richardson.

North Skull – Coin Purses

posted by on 05/09/2011

The good folk over at North Skull sent me over their latest accessories endeavour – the coin purse. I’ve noticed that 75% of wallets don’t have coin purses, I know it’s what make them chunky but where else are you going to place them? Loose change in your pocket? Um, no thanks. North Skull have the answer with this product, a small leather ‘purse’ that you can clip onto your belt loop, bags and even jacket. More on the reverse.

On Friday morning I went along to Topshop‘s Edited space on Regent Street to be amongst the first to see a selection of key pieces from Topshop’s current range as curated by Susanna Lau aka Susie Bubble. Launched at the start of this year, the Edited space has become a destination for those looking for the very best of the Oxford Street store, featuring items hand picked my Topshop’s Design Director Jacqui Markham. With new additions added every week and its own changing room and till point. Edited offers convenience for those avoiding the bustle of Oxford Street whilst still allowing easy access to the main store.

Introducing T. Mills

posted by on 05/09/2011

22-year-old Travis Tatum Mills who is more commonly known as T. Mills released his free album ‘Leaving Home’ under Colombia records back in July, but it’s only recently I’ve become aware of him after hearing single ‘Hollywood’. The track, which features Colin Munroe, prompted me to download the 10-song cd.

'Demons Never Die' Trailer

posted by on 04/09/2011

Just seen the trailer for ‘Demons Never Die‘ a horror flick produced by Idris Elba and debut delivery in terms of writing and direction from Arjun Rose. As a fan of blood and guts, I was eager to watch the trailer but if I am honest it doesn’t particularly excite me very much. I think the trailer does look good but I thought some scenes weren’t compelling enough and the screaming was slightly excessive. However it’s not everyday we get a horror film written, directed, produced and performed by UK talent so I hope it will be a great film.
