Is it weird that I can call Wired one of my favourite events in London even though this past Monday was only my 2nd time. On both occasions I’ve been very impressed. Kate and Duke have created a very special event, which has now been going for 3 years and plans are in place to develop it further.

Uniqlo J+ AW 2011 The Final Collection

posted by on 08/09/2011

Lord knows J+ have served Uniqlo very well, as much as I do love the store it’s no secret that the J+ collections brought a bit more life, style and variety to the predictable and one way Uniqlo ensemble. But now it’s goodbye as Autumn/Winter 2011 marks the final J+ collection and from 1am this morning, you were given the opportunity to be the first to get your hands on the latest J+ kit before it made it to the stores. They put together a very slick website previewing the collection on a loop. As always they’ve got great pieces including coats and blazers as well as nicely tailored shirts. With J+ on the way out Uniqlo have a void to fill, I wonder what’s next! Have a look at the online store after the break. It’ll also be available tonight at 6pm at the Oxford Street store, go go go!

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 08/09/2011

It’s been a really long while since I took over the Throwback Thursday post, I struggled a little bit this time because there were quite a few tracks in the running but today I’ve chosen ‘My Love Is Your Love‘ by Whitney Houston. Written and produced by Wyclef, this record was huge when it was released I believe in early 1999; it is one of my favourite songs and my favourite from Whitney. Everything from the cool reggae rhythm, the lyrics, the melody and the video is on point – it gave a very mellow and positive vibe that you don’t often get from music. So once again I’ve chosen ‘My Love Is Your Love’ as this week’s throwback tune, enjoy!

Samsung Galaxy Note

posted by on 08/09/2011

After much speculation, it’s now official news that Samsung will be launching a smartphone: The Galaxy Note. The new phone boasts a high res 5.3 inch screen as well as being the first on the market to feature a HD super AMOLED display. Adding to it’s sophistication, the phone which will be running on Android 2.3 comes with an ‘S pen‘ which is by far the most accurate technology on the market for touch screen input. Rest assured the Galaxy Note comes with an 8 megapixel camera and a 2 megapixel on the front for video calls and narcissism. So the phone should be available for purchase fairly soon so keep your eyes peeled, watch a video after the break.

Topman Winter 2011 Accessories

posted by on 08/09/2011

As you can see the weather has already started changing and we’re about to be plunged into winter; a time where we’ll experience only rain, cold weather, wind, tornados and hurricanes… Okay that was extreme but you get the jist. I was browsing the Topman website and noticed they’ve got some great new accessories in, most appropriate for the coming weather. I was most interested in the new snoods with the multi-colored prints. Snoods are great because they allow you to wear less clothing whilst usually still managing to keep you warm as they cover most of your neck, ears and chest. These so the same job and also come in some cool prints, some quite ‘aztecy’ and other plain but still stylish. They are a mixture of cotton and Arcadia signature acrylic, and they retail for around £16, peep a selection after the break.

Dope Quote #15

posted by on 07/09/2011

It’s funny that this quote came up at work earlier yesterday after I had to defend my choice of career to my Dad the night before. He was about to do the whole comparing thing again but I stopped him short with this quote. It’s not just about money. People fail to see this, money does not equal happiness. Yes it helps but I’d much rather wake up every morning and go work at a job that I LOVE and earn half as much I’d earn doing a job I hated. This quote leads back to one of my earliest dope quotes‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’

Business Cards Of The Rich And Famous

posted by on 07/09/2011

Well the rich and famous in the tech world. Not your Jay-Z‘s and Beyonce’s but the real power people in the United States. You know who I mean – Barack Obama, Mark Zuckerberg, Google‘s Schmidt, Steve Wozniak and co. Ever wondered what their business cards looked like? Well here you have a few examples from over the years. You’ll probably recognise the Zuck’s card from the film, he actually uses the same one! how dope. What surprises me is how SIMPLE these cards are; in terms of typography and design a lot of these are very average/poor. Then again if you’re running a billion dollar company, why do you need a fancy card to impress people? If I ever reach that level of wealth, I’d take the piss with a Comic Sans business card. Have a gander at the rest after the cut.
