Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 15/09/2011

I jumped on Throwback again this week as I rediscovered a reggae classic last night. The track was a #1 hit in the UK in 1978; not only has it been covered hundreds of times but it has also been included in several modern compilations of classic reggae or R&B so you may well have heard it. It’s by Althea and Donna, two Jamaican teenagers (at the time), the song is called ‘Uptown Top Ranking‘. As I mentioned it’s been covered and sampled quite a few times, you’ll recognise the beat from Sean Paul‘s cover of ‘I’m Still In Love‘- but nothing quite beats the original. Great vibe, great rhythm, great song. Enjoy.

As you all may already know, I’ve been working on the ASOS account at work. The UK retailer just launched their mind blowing interactive digital experience featuring the latest trends in a series of subcultures around the world. The videos feature dancers in London, skaters in Paris, beatboxers in Tokyo and a hell of lot more videos from bands and musicians from all across the globe. The styling is on point, it’s a nice collection of casual/smart casual clothing – jackets, beanies, chinos, backpacks and more. Everything is on trend at the moment so guys get copping before your friends do. The real interactive is on the microsite – it’s a new shopping experience. It’s easily one of their most innovative campaigns to date! Ladies and gentleman, welcome on board to the Urban Tour. Hop on after the cut to see the videos.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Tested To The Limit | Review

posted by on 15/09/2011

Cristiano Ronaldo falls into the category of marmite. You either love him or you hate him. However for anyone who doesn’t like him but loves the beautiful game for all its power, skill, goals and drama-it will be difficult to deny that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world and perhaps to have ever played the game. Big statement, I know, but after watching this documentary on Ronaldo being tested to the limit, you may actually agree with me. I have always respected Ronaldo as a player but my respect has multiplied greatly after watching him put under a microscope for a series of intricate tests to determine why exactly he is a cut above the rest. I’m not going to lie, looking at his flawless bod was part of my entertainment too obviously!! YUM. Check the documentary on the reverse.

Topman Design Collection A/W 2011

posted by on 14/09/2011

Topman have launched their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection for their Topman Design line and is already available to purchase on the Topman online store. The premium line that has been described as punchy and gypsy inspired, features a bold helping of print shirts, checkered shirts, chunky knits, long winter coats and finely cut tailoring. I like the new collection however I’m not a big fan of the pimp looking long coats with fur collars and also the full fur coats. However I think the other long coats are impressive along with the knitwear and checkered shirts. I also like the way they’ve showcased the collection on the website, if you follow the link after the break you’ll be able to see footage of the  fashion show when you hover over some of the images with your mouse.  Photos after the break.

This Is What You're Like Drunk

posted by on 14/09/2011

Gosh I miss posting about advertising. Do you guys remember my adspiration posts? It was something I did throughout university, whenever I came across a clever and innovative campaign I’d break it down on here. I came across this clever anti-binging campaign by Byturen. I always wonder if drunk people would still drink if they watched their antics on video, you don’t like yourself. Alcohol helps you lose self-control, morals and everything you stand for if you abuse it. This campaign shows us both sides of a young woman’s night out; one she’s sober and the other she’s drunk. The interactivity allows the depiction such events in a cool way – you need to scroll over the video to see the gross drunken side of the girl. That’s how most of you look like when you’re drunk, you just don’t know it yet. The contrast is amazing and I like how they’ve incorporated it using a rollover in flash. Have a gander at the campaign here. I can’t embed it, bit of a load time at the start but worth it. Have a gander.

NIKEiD for England Rugby 'NEW BLOOD' | Air Max 1 Hyperfuse

posted by on 14/09/2011

Oh boy. I was invited down to Nike‘s PR agency a few days ago to photograph these babies for Hypebeast. With the sneaker world still recovering from the seizure caused by the Air Mag unveiling, this beautifully crafted Air Max 1 hyperfuse probably sent many into coma. No joke ting. I haven’t ever worn a pair, nor liked them till I came across the pink pair and now these. Lawd, the hyperfuse technology and minimalist look adds to its overall sneaker sex appeal. Renegade Ops: Preview Event @ HMS Belfast

posted by on 14/09/2011

Before you start slaying me for using the term ‘boyfriend’. My girlfriend wrote this post for me….enjoy.

What do you get when you squeeze forty-something psyched gaming bloggers wearing fake beret hats into a room full of X-box stands with a topless model who just can’t stop pouting whilst getting body-painted all aboard an ex-battleship docked on the River Thames? An impressive event that’s one-of-a-kind of course! I for one am glad to have played a part in helping to organise SEGA x Avalanche Studio‘s preview launch of their new game last Thursday night: Renegade Op‘s! It was, hands down, the highlight of my 5 week internship at Neoco. There I was, standing upon the almighty HMS Belfast, with Tower Bridge on one side, the Tower of London and the Gherkin on the North side, and the terribly typical weather finally picking up – the sun had come out to play. You’ve got to love London. It had never looked so beautiful.

Dunderdon x Timberland Chukka Boot | Street Casuals

posted by on 14/09/2011

Streetcasuals have bagged themselves a nice exclusive; the Dunderdon x Timberland collaboration. We’re big fans of Timberland’s more premium range of footwear, not the work boot. I’m wearing some of last season’s which we reviewed here. Ridiculously comfortable and these look like they’re the same level of. comfort with the white vibram sole for cushioned comfort, quality and durability. Definitely one of the more common A/W footwear trends to be on the lookout for. Big fan of suede on shoes, love the simplicity and class of this Chukka boot. These are available in black and brown suede. More images on the reverse.

Lloyd – Dedication To My Ex (Miss That) f. Andre 3000

posted by on 14/09/2011

A couple of months ago a Youtube video accompanied by simple on-screen lyrics was released for Lloyd’s single “Dedication To My Ex” from his new album, King of Hearts. The track was an ode to Motown style R&B and featured Lil Wayne and Andre 3000. Guaranteed hit you’d assume? But in the same way that Cee-Lo Green’s “Fuck You” was way too explicit for the MTV daytime audience, music execs replaced some of the rude words on the “Dedication To My Ex” track in a hope for mainstream success. And thus, what could have been fun, risky visuals narrating Lloyd swooning about missing his unfaithful girlfriend’s sex – starring two of the best MC’s of our time…is instead a censored, extremely-standard music video set in a garage featuring Wayne Brady attempting to pass off as a non-dreadlocked/tattooed Lil Wayne, and a cat miming along to Andre 3000′s verse. Weird. Well at least Lloyd cut off his hair. Peep the video after the jump.

Gravity – Director's Cut

posted by on 13/09/2011

Incredible as always, Salomon Ligthelm videos never cease to amaze me. Although he states that its ‘similar to stuff I’ve done before’, it’s still pretty amazing. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of his style of videography and editing. It’s so future tech, the usage of twixtor to slow down frames is on point. What fascinates me is his ability to create the score, sound, edit, grade, design, animate and come up with concept! One man team. Have a gander at the video on the reverse. Promise more posts are coming later in the day….I need to sleep.
