Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

SHOWCASING: Ethan Breakaway

posted by on 19/08/2011

Showcasing is similar to the Introducing… posts that i do in the way that it brings lesser known acts to your attention. However the difference is that Showcasing will bring you unsigned acts from the world of YouTube who are super talented that deserve another platform to Showcase their talent. For the first instalment I would like to shine the spotlight on an 18 year old singer/producer from London, he goes by the name of Ethan Breakaway. Have a listen to some of his work after the break.

7 Diamonds 2011 Autumn/Winter Video Lookbook

posted by on 19/08/2011

When watching the new video lookbook from 7 Diamond for their 2011 Autumn/Winter Collection you could easily make the mistake of thinking you were watching something from the 70′s. However I think that it’s the old rustic feel to the video that gives it it’s charm. Thanks to photographer Jack Coleman 7 Diamonds are able to present their new range of  wool cable knits sweaters, cardigans, selvedge denim and their famous button-down shirts in a way that can only be described as vintage. I posted their Spring/Summer lookbook a few months back, take a look if you haven’t seen it already (see here). The new collection video after the cut

With all the news of people expecting their exam results yesterday it got me thinking about how I was stressing about my results for my degree and how I had planned to torch my Uni if I failed lol. Coincidently I came across news that London College of Fashion (member of my University group University of the Arts London) is to open a pop-up shop in Canary Street. The temporary College Shop will showcase collections from members of the Uni’s alumni including William Tempest, Beatrice Boyle, and Ada Zanditon. The store is set to stock  jewellery, photography, illustrations and footwear all with in the reasonable price range of £20 to £400. September 8th is the launch date of the store and it will run for 2 and half weeks.

BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards 2011

posted by on 19/08/2011

Despite the negative press surrounding the youth in the UK (mainly London) there are a vast amount of young people out here with their heads screwed on the correct way that are more concerned with making a better future with themselves. This is why I appreciate events like these because they are there to highlight the fact that there are a lot of young people doing very well for themselves and even their communities. Other movements like The Spirit of London Awards also spring to mind. BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards will take place at Wembley Arena on  9th October, more info after the break

Nike Air Max 90 – Hyperfuse

posted by on 19/08/2011

Oh gosh. Never thought I’d say this about an Air Max but these are super SEXY. Yes sneaker heads, hate on me and call me for not liking the classic air max model that most of you worship. I was never into the sporty sneakers but something about this pair just stands out for me. It’s not just the bright colourway with the contrasting shiny metallic bits – it’s the construction that fascinated me. It’s completely stitch-less – the Hyperfuse is a three layer composite technology invented by Nike. It’s engineered in a very similar manner to the carbon fibre composites in F1 race cars, now that’s telling you something. Imagine the Nike labs with scientists experimenting on sneakers haha. The tech basically fuses together all 3 layers to form a continuous upper that pushes the boundaries of durability, breathability and weight. Originally inspired by the conditions that young Chinese kids were playing basketball in, they were all wearing inappropriate heavy footwear. Nike provides the solution. More on the reverse.

Between Lines | Short Film

posted by on 18/08/2011

The riots definitely did dent my love for London but don’t let a few goons acting like idiots taint your opinion of the city. LDN is oozing with creative individuals, like these three young film makers Femi, Justin and Manuel. They’ve combined their talents to produce this short film focusing on the tube’s different colour lines – didn’t think anyone could make a tube journey look remotely attractive but these guys have managed to pull it off.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 18/08/2011

I’m taking it waaaaaaay back, you will all know this song because it’s been sampled/covered by numerous artists over the years. However NOTHING touches this version by the legendary soul singer Otis Redding. I bet a lot of you didn’t know Otis died at the age of 26 in a horrific plane crash, sad story. His music lives on 40 years on, can you believe he released 6 albums in the space of 4 years? That’s more than your Rihanna’s & Beyonce’s put together. I wanted ya’ll to hear the original mainly because of the Ye’ & Jay sampled ‘Otis’ which I am a fan of but it doesn’t come close. Nuh uh. Hop on after the cut.

Phillipp Klinger Photography

posted by on 17/08/2011

Phillip Klinger is an extremely talented photographer currently based in Germany, his choice of gear is Nikon D700 so we’re in tune since I am a Nikon too… although I’m hardly on his level! Came across this guys work whilst browsing Flickr the other day and needless to see I was immediately blown away! Firstly by the immense depth and detail of each photograph, even more interestingly most of his photos are not photoshopped… Yezzir the German photographer relies on natural light and his surroundings to produce photos of eye-watering calibre below. I also really love how vibrant his photos are, I have so many favourites in his collections already- his photos just look so alive and captivating. If you are a into photography it might be worth checking out his Flickr, he was quite a few albums reflecting his travels, I have simply populated his photos from his time in Sicily (which are jaw dropping) but he has alot more. Check out more from Phillipp after the break.

Far Fetch | Freccione 'Panda' Glasses

posted by on 17/08/2011

This post should have been up a month ago, I received the product around then but have seriously procrastinated and been incredibly busy. Mine and Yang‘s schedules clash, the only time we’d have time to do the shoot are evenings but usually we’re DEAD by that point. So today, we actually decided to meet at 6 on the dot outside my work and get not one but 2 shoots done. 6 hours later, the photographs have been edited and posts have been written + published. That’s how we do, if only we were able to do this everyday. Trust me, original content is getting a big push when the new site is up. This post features a pair of glasses, it would have been a review post but there is near to nothing information on the brand Freccione. Gosh such an elusive Italian brand, Google gives me nada. More on the reverse.
