Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Lanvin 2011 Autumn/Winter Campaign Movie

posted by on 29/08/2011

LOL is what first came to mind when thinking of how to start this post. However my laughing doesn’t come with negative connotations, in fact it’s quite the opposite. Lanvin have released a video campaign to support their 2011 Autumn/Winter Collections but they haven’t given us the typical take fashion brand type of video but instead showcase their clothes in a fun light. Normally when I watch these expensive/luxury fashion brand videos I often think that they take themselves way too seriously but with this it’s completely different. Steven Meisel the man behind the lens has managed to inject life and familiarity with this video (this may be due to the accompanying song). Often I feel these videos alienate your average highstreet consumer but this has great mass appeal. Have a look and tell me if you agree.

United Arrows 2011 Autumn/Winter Collection

posted by on 29/08/2011

I’ve never really paid United Arrows much interest in the past but having had a look at their latest lookbook for their 2011 Autumn/Winter Collection i’m starting to think that I may have to pay more attention to them in the future. I’m kinda loving the whole vibe in this lookbook its fun but at the same time has elements of sophistication via the suits on offer. Take  a look yourself and let me know what you think.

Dope Quote #14

posted by on 29/08/2011

Running a bit late with the posts tonight, busy creating. This isn’t a quote, it’s one of my tweets from earlier in the day. I’m working on a very special project and one of the designs I conjured up in the past few days is one of my best design pieces of design work in years. The funny thing is that I’ve had that vision replaying in my head for weeks now but only managed to find time to sit down and create it 2 days ago. Honestly if you have a vision/idea like that, note it down. The moment when you successfully recreate it is truly magical. Proud moment. Right back to designing.

Palladium Presents Tokyo Rising Documentary Trailer (feat. Pharrell)

posted by on 28/08/2011

Ah man, super jealous of Pharrell – no not because of his lifestyle, just the fact he gets to tour around Tokyo in this documentary. Palladium who have successfully relaunched the brand worldwide in the past year and half have teamed up with the BBC co-founder/N.E.R.D. frontman Pharrell Williams to look into Tokyo’s uprising movement from the recent earthquake and nuclear tragedies. I’m looking forward to seeing the full video which is set to drop online on the September 1st.

The Help | Film Preview

posted by on 27/08/2011

One advantage of me being in the US for the past 7 months is that I can preview great films that are set to be released in the UK. Last week I watched “The Help” directed by Tate Taylor and based on the hugely successful same titled novel by Kathryn Stockett. I am definitely calling it in advance that “The Help” will attract Academy award nominations. I hope I am right because, for me, it is the best film I have seen this year. Short preview and trailer after the jump.

J. Crew Menswear Now Ship To The UK

posted by on 27/08/2011

YES. I know I posted earlier in the year about Mr. Porter stocking the American retailer’s collections but the selection they had was very limited – only about 10-15 items. Now J.Crew have decided to do it themselves starting today – for the first time UK folks can now purchase clothes from jcrew.com and shipping is now available at a flat rate of £9.95 (plus tax and import duty, calculated at checkout). Not sure how affordable that will be but maybe it lets you select as send as gift then you’ll be able to avoid import duty. So folks who enjoy preppy-workwear aesthetic and it’s somewhat affordable. Head over to the store now, payday next week! make your wishlists.

Erykah Badu interview with Out Da Box TV

posted by on 27/08/2011

Erykah Badu sits down with Youtube channel Out Da Box TV in a 20 minute initmate and intriguingly honest interview where she discusses the Window Seat video, being a Mother, her inspirations, where she fits in amongst modern talent, her plans for the future and her views on the Black family & love in 2011. Badu is without a doubt one of the most inspirational and fearless women of our time and I found this interview not just interesting, but also refreshing. Check it out after the jump.

Penfield A/W 2011 Lookbook

posted by on 27/08/2011

Here we have Penfield’s  lookbook for it’s autumn/winter collection of 2011, it’s a given that Penfield know how to pitch very good quality outerwear that will do its job by keep you warm whilst looking good. I quite like this lookbook for the simple fact that it’s very simple, nothing fancy just a series of “candids” with the occasional pose but above all it serves its purpose and promotes the main pieces which by the way all look very suitable for the weather that lies ahead! Check out photos from the lookbook after the break.
