Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Ed Sheeran – 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' | Music Video

posted by on 20/07/2011

‘They say I am up and coming like I am fucking in an elevator’, is one line out of Ed Sheeran’s single ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ that demonstrates the intelligent wit that is a running theme throughout Sheeran’s music. I have become increasingly intrigued with Sheeran over the past year and can now say I am a fan of his music. The primary reasons being his layered lyrical content, unconventional writing structure and for the best reason as he says he is not a product of any genre. You can hear nuances of indie, acoustic soul, hip hop and grime in Sheeran’s music and that, for me, it is what makes Sheeran so exciting. Check out the video after the jump.

Talenthouse – Life-Changing Opportunities for the Creative Community

posted by on 20/07/2011

Today I came across Talenthouse, an amazing community for creatives with talents in fashion, music, design, photography, film, animation and art. Talenthouse is all about recognising the obstacles creatives face when trying to get their work recognised and appreciated, and have created a platform and community for aspiring talent to work with some of the biggest brands, musicians and artists in the world. Talenthouse aims to take away the barriers that many face when trying to get their work out there, by providing an online community that anyone can sign up to; and opportunities and briefs that anyone can enter – effectively they are erasing the ‘It’s not what you know, but who you know’ mantra that many creatives are forced to live by.

Dog Boarding by Daniel Daniel

posted by on 19/07/2011

How incredible is this video? For one, the concept is great, the transition between the skateboard and the dog is very smooth and the video is self has such a great energy about it- it’s just really fun and positive to watch. I would love to see how this video was made as I am fascinated… so much so that after watching this video, I have decided I want a dog, obviously for the same use. It was created ‘Daniel Daniel‘ a duo of creatives, watch their video after the break.

Brooke Shaden's Magical Photo Stories

posted by on 19/07/2011

Dayum. This photograph looks so surreal, almost like a Dali/Van Gogh painting. Brooke Shaden‘s is a LA-based fine art photographer, her work definitely switches up the norms of photography with the fusion of fine art techniques to unlock exciting and shocking moods in her images. “her vision extends beyond the realm of the camera, creating images that resemble paintings and speak of an era that is not our own. Each image is a story.” – This I agree with, she must be a professional photoshop manipulator. Some of these results have left my jaw fall to the floor and up. Her photographs will absorb you in for minutes, have a gander on the reverse.

Casely-Hayford Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection

posted by on 19/07/2011

LOVE this. English sartorialism at its finest is the best way to describe the latest collection “Day One” from father/son duo Casely-Hayford. Actually saw much of this new collection at The Showroom Next Door‘s showspace over in Paris during MFW. The brand focus mainly on craftsmanship – they continue to pass on this English discipline from generation to generation and you can see that in this collection which focuses mainly on outerwear and tailored tweed suits. I love the variety of fabrics used – tartan, tweed, wool, cotton and more, they’ve taken inspiration from many English traditions – hunting, shooting, fishing and combined it with elements from skateboarding, free running and motorcross. Not sure about the free running reference, I certainly wouldn’t jump over anything in these garments. More on the reverse.

Gant Rugger 2011 Pre Autumn Collection

posted by on 19/07/2011

Gant have provided us with a Pre Autumn Collection. I think that more brands should do Pre season collections as the weather change between seasons, especially here in the UK, can be a bit fickle. Sometimes you need a blend of the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter in order to have the right balance. Take a look at what Gant have to offer after the cut.

Marc Jacobs 2011 Autumn/Winter Collection

posted by on 19/07/2011

Initially I was writing a post about the upcoming Marc Jacobs 2012 Spring/Summer Collection but then I came across this years Autumn/Winter offering so I thought I’d switch and comment on that first. A lot of the time when we see these big name designer brands come out with their collections I find that I don’t actually like what they have to offer. I prefer the high street alternatives but this collection is actually wearable. I really like it, well some of it. Check it out on the flipside.
