Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Hillsong

posted by on 24/07/2011

Yes I mean the super influential Australian church, Hillsong. It’s a Sunday so I thought I’d be a little holy – no I kid, this no evangelical post. I’m merely showing my appreciation for the Church’s design and presentation aesthetic. It’s remarkable, refreshing and unique. Above all, powerful and precise. As a designer I’m in awe, not only left their Europe 2011 conference refreshed spiritually but also inspired by their artwork. More on the reverse.

Richard Swarbrick: 'Bale' & 'El Clasico' Animations

posted by on 24/07/2011

For the last three days I have been completely in my element whilst attending the Kick & Screening soccer film festival in TriBeCa, New York. Obviously due to my football background and love for independent film, it is safe to say that this festival is right up my street! I have been blown away by all the films, shorts and documentaries and will be dedicating my next few posts to the festival itself and specifically some of the films I have been fortunate enough to see. I feel it is my responsibility to introduce you to the niche area of football in film. Like me, I am sure you will be intrigued. For now I will leave you with the absolutely breathtaking football animations by Richard Swarbrick that were showcased at the festival. It is art at its best! More after the jump

R.I.P Amy Winehouse

posted by on 23/07/2011

News has surfaced that 27 year old  Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home…… Take a deep breath and just let the sentence sink in. Widely regarded as one of the greatest talents to emerge from here in the UK Winehouse was found at her home a little before 4pm this afternoon, paramedics tried to revive her but were unable to do so. The even sadder news is that at present her father doesn’t know the news yet as he is currently on a plane somewhere in America. I can only pray for him and her other family members at this tragic time. The news has shocked so many, including myself. I don’t really know why i feel so so bad right now but her death has brought back the memories from when it was announced that Michael Jackson had died. All we can say at this time is R.I.P

Jay-Z x Kanye West 'Watch The Throne' Documentary

posted by on 23/07/2011

Im surprised our resident hip-hop head Tara hasn’t already posted this but just in case she hasn’t seen it yet I thought i’d put it up for you all to see. Check out this documentary which is being used as promotion for Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s collaborative album Watch The Throne, set for release August 1st and 5th. With the guys doing next to no promotion for the album thus far it seems this week things have kicked into gear with the release of their song ‘Otis’ and now this short film. I love how the clip incorporates old footage from back in the day, it highlights the growth in both artists.

Trailer | Paranormal Activity 3

posted by on 23/07/2011

As I write this post I am in bed trying to recover from a drunken night, in celebration of graduating from uni (see Yin‘s Graduation post here). The Paranormal Activity series seems to be heading in the same direction as saw by being release every year in October. It’s crazy to think a film with pretty much the same premise as its predecessors will do well but as we have seen in that past it can be done, think the Final Destination and Saw movies. Anywho click the read on button to see the trailer for Paranormal Activity 3.

Graduation

posted by on 23/07/2011

This week has been so blessed, too blessed to be stressed by work. Started off hectic with 2 of my senior colleagues leaving to go on holiday so I’m doing a lot more work a very important account. Thursday marked the end of the best eras of my life yet – university. I was quite apprehensive about spending £250+ on the actual ceremony; tickets, suit and photograph. It was definitely worth it. Music Video | Emeli Sandé – Heaven

posted by on 22/07/2011

Brady told you guys to watch out for Emeli Sandé in his 3 UK Female Singers To Look Out For post. It turns out the he was right on the money as her song ‘Heaven’ has been gaining a lot of attention in recent weeks. And with that attention reaching its height Emeli and her team have released the visuals to support the song. I love the song, it kinda reminds me of Yasmin‘s ‘On My Own’ track that was produced by Shy FX. Anywho check out the video for the sonically pleasing song after the break.

David Beckham – Homme

posted by on 22/07/2011

The Beckham brand is really something else. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger even though his footballing career is in its last chapter. He’s a true professional, idol to many because of his style, lifestyle, footballing skills and more. He’s just had his 3rd kid and is now set to unleash a new fragrance into the world. Introducing Homme (gosh, could have thought of a more original name?!) – the lads over at GQ sat down with him behind the scenes at the LA-based campaign shoot and spoke to legendary DB7 about style, inspiration and more. Ladies will probably dig the video. I’ve got to give Becks props for popularising men’s grooming “I think it’s always important for a man to look after himself,” He says. “It’s something that I’ve always done and that I will continue to do.” Amen!
