American Apparel Advert By Tony Kelly

posted by on 24/06/2011

I wasn’t expecting this to be fair, when I clicked the link for it on Twitter, I was half-expecting scantily clad women parading rolling around the floor showing off her assets. I was wrong… American Apparel showcase their kids range in this latest campaign, quite surprising that they have a children’s range with the brand almost reaching bankruptcy last year. The ad features 2 kids, one sitting down and talking business on his phone as kids do these days. The other is break dancing next to him, mad. How unreal and hilarious haha. Check it out on the reverse.

Ami 2011 Fall/Winter Lookbook

posted by on 24/06/2011

French designer Alexandre Mattiussi introduces his own collection set to debut during the 2011 Fall/Winter season. Having previously worked for big labels such as GivenchyMarc Jacobs and Dior Homme his is ready to step into the spotlight with his own label entitled Ami. Judging by his impressive previous work experience it would be a good bet that this new label will sit nicely within the price bracket of the labels that he has worked with. However having viewed this lookbook I personally feel that it looks very very similar to something Zara would release, maybe it the way the lookbook was shot but I think it’s more down to the clothes look very Zara esque. Still the collection looks pretty decent so it will be interesting to see where it will sit in the market.

posted by on 23/06/2011

Our loyal readers will know that we here at Y&Y do love us some photography, our numerous posts on photography and camera equipment plus our very our photography project LDN.365 are just a small indication. However I don’t think we have ever or shall I say I don’t think I have ever been more excited and intrigued by a photography related post as much as I am excited and intrigued by this one. Lytro are set to revolutionise the way we take and interact with picture, their motto is simple “shoot now, focus later”. This means we are able to snap away and worry about the focus shift post production rather than pre production. To get to grips with this new concept visit the Lytro website here, make sure you check it out. Also peep a video explaining this amazing product after the cut.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 23/06/2011

I know this artist has been featured in Throwback Thursday before, maybe even a few times in the past. He’s legendary despite that incident involving urine, don’t get me started haha. I was listening to this song on the way to work yesterday, ended up hitting the repeat button just because it was uplifting. Music = perfect fuel for the morning, no need for caffeine. This is definitely one of his most inspiring songs ever. I don’t even need to explain why, just go listen to the lyrics after the cut. He makes it seem effortless!
