Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Pakayla Rae Biehn's Double Exposure Paintings

posted by on 24/05/2011

Yes these are paintings and not photographs. Just incredible! San Francisco-based artist Pakayla Rae Biehn doesn’t use a camera for these incredible works of art, she creates them using oil and acrylic paints. What makes her work extra special is the fact its double exposure photos. For those that don’t know what double exposure is - the photographing of two or more images on a single film strip; the images may be side-by-side or superimposed. Each image has a story and if you look closely you will notice each one is emotional and somewhat scary. This is talent I’ve never seen before, I salute her for creating art that is totally unique. After doing some research on the artist I discovered that she has a rare eye disorder, strabismus, which makes a double vision-esque effect to her sight. Wow. Check out the rest of her work on the reverse.

Frank Ocean – Acura Integurl | Music Video

posted by on 24/05/2011

This is such a simple video with no real concept other than Frank take a drive in his orange NSX around some oceanside. The other scene features him sat on top of the car contemplating his relationship with a lady friend. The visuals are what grab my attention, it’s so well done and just as smooth as his vocals. The colour grading is dope! it reminds me of my own photography style. I wish the song/video was longer to be honest, the piano introduction is what I love most about the song. It’s beautiful, must wipe off the dust from my keyboard this summer and get back on it. Y&Y band coming soon haha. Video on the reverse!

Dear 16-Year-Old Me

posted by on 24/05/2011

Before you ask this has nothing to do with one those MTV programmes but this is a promotional video for a good cause, The David Cornfield Melanoma Fund, as part of Melanoma Awareness month (this month!). It’s a video of several real people addressing their own 16-year-old selves by sharing stories about their struggles with Melanoma. So with summer just around the corner remember Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen.

344. Southwark Cathedral | LDN.365

posted by on 24/05/2011

Another one from last week, totally loving this part of Southwark. It’s definitely a chill spot for the Summer – a little bit of a warm breeze, sunnies, ice cold drink. Picture it. Southwark Cathedral has been used for worship for over a 1000 years (wow!) but only gained Cathedral status in 1905. I love the Gothic architecture though I bet it looks hella scary at night. I conquered Assassin’s Creed today! and seeing a building like this makes me want to climb to the top and jump into a stack of hay. #geek

343. Church Street Flats | LDN.365

posted by on 23/05/2011

Totally random set of flats somewhere near Edgware Road. I was bored waiting for a certain someone so I decided to get my camera out and go for a walk about taking photographs. Always wanted to take photograph like this but next time it’ll be of a tall skyscraper rather than a shoddy looking block of flats. In other news, I purchased a new lens last week. It should arrive sometime this week, you guys will notice changes soon enough!

Next Chapter…

posted by on 23/05/2011

When one chapter ends another one begins. During most fictional readings and even those hard hitting autobiographies as a reader we experience high and lows and that’s what keeps us gripped. Well I can say I have had one of those weeks where emotions have been scattered all over the place as if somebody was playing pinball with my life.

The official music video for Beyonce‘s Run The world (Girls) made its premier last week and has already racked up over 10 million views online but what people haven’t seen is the alternative version. You may recall that the video was supposed to premier on Friday May 13th but was pushed back due to not being ready, well take a look at the unreleased version that didn’t make the grade. Personally I think that this one is dope!

Style Growth

posted by on 23/05/2011

It’s fair to say that Yin&Yang has changed my life in many ways and all for the better (I hope!). I would like to think that our personal growth in our lives has been directly proportional to the growth and development of the site. One of the many things that has changed in our lives is our personal style. If I’m honest, I wouldn’t ever go back to wearing the matching sneakers/hoody/cap/tee look in the near future. It’s just not relevant anymore.
