It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Bagua Spring/Summer 2011 Shoe Collection

posted by on 02/03/2011

Bagua is a Parisian based fashion brand, a brand boasting a clear balance of Chinese heritage and contemporary fashion. This summer collection marks the companys’ debut in the UK and I have a feeling they’ll be getting a warm welcome, pun intended.  Who/what is Bagua? Well the company aims to  “be a factor in the overall harmony between a man and his environment; to maximise greater health and productivity while improving your quality of life”. With this philosophy in mind Bagua Shoes has created a stylish range of contemporary casual footwear that not only looks great, but is also so lightweight, effortless and unbelievably comfortable, more after the cut.

AKS – The Monologue (Typography Video)

posted by on 02/03/2011

Love  kinetic typography videos. I’m sure ya’ll remember the original video for Cee-Lo‘s ‘F**k You’, it was a typography video and it damn sure was a viral hit. Enough of the Cee-Lo love, time to show this UK rapper AKS some. I have been sleeping on this guy’s music for a whole minute even though I see him being linked constantly on my twitterfeed. The word typography stood out for me when this was posted but however I was more impressed with his raw flow and lyricism. It’s something A LOT of UK rappers lack. I’ve been moaning about the lack of good UK rappers for a while now but AKS definitely breaks the mould. This is Hip-Hop, none of the Grime rubbish. Watch the visual and audio treat on the reverse.

The Face

posted by on 01/03/2011

This has given me chuckles for the past two days and I’m sure it’s going to be my go-to whenever I need a laugh; so I thought I’d share since I know people sometimes need some comic relief to get through the day. The girl is hilarious actually – maybe a little bit crazy (I came to that conclusion after watching hours of her youtube videos) (maybe I’m the crazy one) but, I’d check her out.  She’s from Boston (my American accent knowledge is on the come up) and this is something everyone can use – men and women, children and adults. Check it out after the break.

260. One New Change – St. Pauls | LDN.365

posted by on 01/03/2011

Taken from the elevator inside St. Pauls new shopping destination, One New Change. It’s complete with cafés and restaurants from renowned chefs and flagship menswear and womenswear fashion brands, all set overlooking London’s most famous landmark, St Paul’s Cathedral. Trust me, the view from the roof terrace is amazing. You saw it in my 365 last week, you definitely want to take your girl there and take corny photographs on auto-timer. Not saying I did that though. Come on now. Me!?

Christopher Ræburn x Victorinox | Remade in Switzerland

posted by on 01/03/2011

Young UK design pioneer Christopher Ræburn has teamed up with Victorinox, the creators of the Original Swiss Army Knife. The young designer is renowned for his innovative men‘s and women’s wear collections from re-appropriated military fabrics. What better way to build on his previous collections than teaming up with a brand with such rich heritage like Victorinox. This new project is a mixture of Ræburn’s innovation and individuality with the Swiss brand’s quality and heritage. The garments are all constructed from Swiss military fabrics and they all feature his highly technical construction with a military touch. The collaboration will be available throughout Victorinox flagships and most high-end shops worldwide. More on the reverse, check out the stop-motion preview. It’s very dope.

Film Review: Never Let Me Go

posted by on 01/03/2011

Gosh, February has been a busy month. Like some of my other Y&Y team members, I have been occupied with studying but not for cool stuff like Creative Advertising, but for the horrid New York bar legal exams which I took last week in New York. Fair to say I am delighted that it’s over! But that is my explanation for my lack of posts. However, now I am”free at last”, I thought I’d do something different to my other posts so far and do a film review. It is probably appropriate because of the Oscars yesterday. On my flight back to Heathrow, I weirdly decided to watch the Independent British film Never let me go, which was surprisingly engaging and moving. Review after the jump.
