Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 17/02/2011

After a stressful few weeks concerning uni and essays I wanted to brighten my mood and this track was just perfect. The first thing i thought of after completing my work yesterday was the fact that I need to go on holiday (maybe we should organise a Y&Y getaway). I wanna be in the sun partying it up and to reflect this I have selected this once forgotten song as the start of my holiday playlist. Do you guys remember the track Fade by Solu featuring Kimberlee ? Wel if you do or you don’t  give it a listen, it’s sure to lighten up your mood too.

Esperanza Spalding

posted by on 17/02/2011

I’m sure you all watched the Grammys a few days ago and a lot of people will agree it was quite dissatisfying this year especially in terms of performances.. but anyhow one of the main things that was quite strange was when Esperanza Spalding knocked Justin Bieber and Drake out of the running and won Best New Artist. Yin&Yang Meet Jessie J Interview

posted by on 17/02/2011

It’s been a long time coming but they say the best things come to those who wait. Never one to be shy and reserved Jessie J had lots to say when we had the pleasure of meeting her. Since the actual recording of the interview she has gone onto have a #2 hit with her debut single ‘Do It Like A Dude’ and scored first UK #1 with the infectious ‘Price Tag’. It just goes to show that we have an eye for spotting and supporting great talent. So without further ado I give you Yin&Yang meets Jessie J the interview, check it out on the flipside.

Photographer: Lisa Bettany

posted by on 16/02/2011

It’s been a while since we did a post on a photographer so while half the team is working to deadlines, I thought I’d let you guys into my world a little bit. If you didn’t know I’m a bit of nerd and am pretty much involved in anything geekery. So back in the early days of Twitter when Kevin Rose had the most followers.  I started following EVERYONE and I mean everyone (following almost 1500 people now!) one of those people was Lisa Bettany, Photographer extraordinaire, currently the other half of Mr. Mashable and all around web geek. Find out more about her and her photography after the jump, she’s more than pretty face I assure you!

247. Savile Row | LDN.365

posted by on 16/02/2011

Savile Row is one of London’s most prestigious shopping streets located in the heart of Mayfair. It’s widely known for its traditional men’s bespoke tailoring. For those of us who don’t know what that term means, it’s basically a fancy word for custom tailoring. You can purchase a suit made just specially for you. The  street is nicknamed the ‘golden mile of tailoring‘ where customers have included Winston Churchill, Lord Nelson and Napoleon III. Soon Niran Vinod will be added to that list when I purchase my first bespoke suit from Ozwald Boateng. One can dream, ey?

Maestro Knows – Special Edition (Hit-Boy)

posted by on 16/02/2011

I’m forever inspired by Levi. He symbolises what we’re all about here at Y&Y – fashion. music. art.  I’m really grateful that I got to meet him in London last year, a real visionary and is someone who knows exactly what he’s doing in life. Anywho, this episode features his acclaimed producer Hit-Boy. Ya’ll will know him for Lil Wayne’s Drop The World, Kanye‘s Christmas in Harlem and more recently Pusha T’s My God. If you haven’t heard the latter, listen to it here. It’s my track of the moment, the beat is just perfect for Pusha. Peep the special edition of episode on the reverse.

Friday Night Dinner | Starts February 25th | Channel 4

posted by on 16/02/2011

I’m not a big fan of UK TV shows but having said that, Inbetweeners is one of my favourites. The cringe-worthy humour always has me in tears. If you haven’t already recognised from the image above, the main character Will played by Simon Bird is in this new series starting next week on Channel 4. The show centers around a Jewish family the Goodmans; each episode takes place on a Friday night where brothers Adam (Will) and Jonny are forced to go round their parents’ house for dinner. Just like us, they find this Friday night shindig annoying and amazing – annoying because they have to spend time with the rents and amazing because of the they get fed. The trailer for it is absolutely hilarious, a Dad that drinks ketchup straight from the bottle? WTH. Yes.

The Rock – Best Quotes

posted by on 16/02/2011

How many of ya’ll grew up watching WWF? I’m not going to lie, I was a big fan. I had most of the PS1/Ps2 Smackdown games and even collected the WWF stickers at one point. Dwyane Johnson, known to most as The Rock was my favourite wrestler. His pre-fight banter and all around charismatic cockiness is what made me a fan. Some of the ish that came out of his mouth was so random, for example: RUDY POO. Someone on my Facebook posted this up yesterday, these clips still had me in tears. Thought I’d share it with ya’ll, some Monday laughs as we prepare for another Tube strike in the morning. *sighs*

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – The Playstation Phone

posted by on 15/02/2011

Argh!! I just wrote a 2000 word essay on the Innovation of mobile phones, I vowed never to breathe a word about them ever but then I think I just felt obliged to write about this one! It’s a never ending competition between all of these mobile phone providers and now Sony Ericsson are about to release the Xperia Play, their attempt to compete with the iPhone (pffft). The device is a cross between a mobile phone and a PSP, read more after the cut.
