Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Tween Autumn/Winter 2011 Show Recap

posted by on 26/02/2011

First and foremost, thank you to Vitamin Water UK for giving me the ticket to the show. If you asked me a week ago if I had heard of Tween, I would have stared at you with a blank face. I had the choice to between 3 collections but opted for Tween after a Google images search showed me some fine tailored pieces. Personally I have grown out of streetwear and this is the type of collection you would most likely see me in. Turkish designer Güneş Güner Işık breaks down the collection “Man’s irrepressible need for discovery. Inspired by the discoveries that have shaped the modern world, the new collection offers a dynamic and innovative aesthetic for the modern man who loves to travel… Prepared to go anywhere, equipped to be confident.” She took the words right of my mouth. Ever since I’ve started to dress smarter, I have worried about being under-dressed to events and people definitely take you more seriously. Nothing beats a suit/blazer, shirt and tie combination. More on the reverse.

Converse Saves The 100 Club!

posted by on 26/02/2011

At one point in your life, you had to have owned a pair of Converse. I know with my big feet, these were the shoes my mum could buy be that kept me in the ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ zone without making me look too much like a clown and without putting me in the ‘look at her Nike shoes, they’re so busted’ zone either. Ahhh, the greatness of Converse. So, as well as saving me from being bullied, Converse is playing superman to the well known and pretty popular venue, The 100 club, in London. The club, that brings a mixture of talent and just a damn basic love for music, was said to be closing due to ‘rocketing overheads’, and though many people campaigned against the demise of a club that would stir memories from 1942 (wooooah baby), it seemed as if there was nothing that could be done.

Skins – The US Version

posted by on 26/02/2011

FINALLY! An English show that is better in England than in the ‘oh so great ‘ America. So I was pretty happy, I’ve always enjoyed American shows, so when they said there would be an American Skins, I was kinda excited to see how they would adapt the American flair we see all the time into an English show that is pretty popular. I must admit, the Skins episodes I had seen when I was living in London were very few, it was something I never really got into. But then, I started watching it online when I saw commercials for the American Skins, so I could compare notes.

The Hangover Part II Teaser Trailer

posted by on 26/02/2011

This dropped 2 days ago but I held back from posting yesterday because I didn’t want to overload you guys with posts. The first Hangover is with a doubt the funniest movie to be released in the last 5 years, none of you can argue with that. It was epic on so many different levels: the cast, their chemistry, storyline, location – everything was just perfect. How are they going to top it? Well the dentist is having his hen-do in Thailand, that’s how. From the image above it looks like he got a face tattoo, ouch. Teaser trailer on the reverse.

257. Old Vic – Waterloo Road | LDN.365

posted by on 26/02/2011

I had a few hours to kill the other day so I took a lonely stroll from Waterloo to Elephant and Castle where my university is located. I spotted the Old Vic theatre, at first I misread it for the Queen Vic in Eastenders but realised it was a theatre. The Victorian architecture inspired me to edit the photograph in a different style to my usual. I’ve made it old school, black and white and a little grainy. What do you guys think? Have I succeeded? Interesting fact: Kevin Spacey is artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre Company. How random.

Jumping On Trend | Coloured Trousers

posted by on 26/02/2011

Yesterday I said that it was time for me to start thinking about updating my wardrobe with new pieces that will work well for the upcoming season. What I failed to mention is the fact that I also want to diversify my look. Experiment if you will, it’s all about trying new things out. My first port of call is to try different coloured trousers. Gone are the days where blue, grey and black are must have tones and I think it’s about time that I embraced this.

Cassette Playa Fall/Winter 2011 at LFW

posted by on 25/02/2011

2 days ago I was lucky enough to go to Cassette Playa‘s Fall/Winter LFW showcase at BFC Showspace in Somerset House. For someone who’s a fashion insider, it was my first ever time attending a catwalk show at the famous home of London Fashion Week. It was quite an experience to be honest, I wasn’t expecting to be surrounded by folks who would put Lady Gaga to shame. The worst one was a guy in a long orange dress, blonde weave and a fake LATEX mask. Yeh, talk about taking individuality a little too seriously. Moving on, designer Carri Munden gives us another collection full of graphic prints, patterns, metallics and vibrant colours. Continues on the reverse.

Maharishi Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook

posted by on 25/02/2011

I remember first coming across the Maharishi brand in the summer of 2009 when I interned at a PR company in London called Exposure. For those of you that don’t know the brand it’s very military influenced. The reason behind this is because London founder Hardy Blechman, who started the company in 1994, has experience in the international military and industrial clothing surplus trade. The experience in the field is clear for all to see in his work and the latest Spring/Summer 2011 collection is no exception.

Life After University: Travelling

posted by on 25/02/2011

May the 17th 2011 is a date that myself, Yin, Yang and DJB are more than looking forward to. This is the day that we hand in out last ever university assignments. I can’t even express to you in words the emotions that we would be going through. It seems everyday we’re complaining about university work and stress. We would rather spend our time writing for the blog, than writing about the marketing mix for the 100th time.
