Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

‘Tipping off on February 25th through to March 6th, Foot Locker Europe, proud sponsors of the NBA, will give UK ‘ballers the chance to take part in a range of basketball activities including coaching clinics, pop-up mobile events and competitions up and down the country. NBA Basketball Week begins in Sheffield and will visit Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and London’.

Living in the USA, for basketball purposes, I’ve been exposed to how seriously sport is taken in this country.  The scholarships, the competition, the life style – and the reason being is because it just isn’t taken serious enough to develop into something significant. But finally, this competition will put basketball on the map for Britain.

“From 2nd – 6th March the NBA will transform Westfield London – Europe’s largest shopping mall – into the NBA Fan Zone, featuring basketball clinics, appearances from NBA players and legends and performances from The Nets Dancers, Sly the Nets team Mascot, the Nets Dunkin Divas and Team Hype. Fans will also be able to win big in the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest.

NBA Basketball Week climaxes on the 4th and 5th March, at London’s O2 Arena, when history will be made as the New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors compete in the first ever NBA regular-season games to take place in Europe as part of NBA Games – London 2011 presented by Thomson Sport. A monumental occasion that will be watched by basketball fans across the country and beyond.”

Though I won’t be in the country when this competition is happening, I definitely will be keeping track.  This will be a great opportunity for ballers to show what they can do and also be around the atmosphere that they need to be around to get the motivation to take this craft further.
