Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Ofcom Allows Product Placement On UK TV

posted by on 28/02/2011

From today product placement in UK TV shows will be allowed as agreed by Ofcom and Parliament sometime last year. Regulations still apply in certain areas but are far more relaxed on the matter as a whole. It’s time to watch out for those Coca Cola endorsements during our daily intake of Coronation Street and Hollyoaks. I saw an advert from Ofcom explaining the newly agreed terms for the first time yesterday, for those who haven’t seen it check it out on the flipside as well as more details of the new restrictions.

Lulu Cranks That On Let's Dance For Comic Relief

posted by on 28/02/2011

My life is now officially complete. Last night saw legendary singer Lulu don a hoodie and baggy pants whilst dancing to Soulja Boy‘s ‘Crank That’ all in aid of raising money for Comic Relief. Never in my wildest dreams would I have firstly imagined that song being played on a prime time BBC One show and secondly Lulu being such a good dancer lol. She owned the performance and played her role very well. Even her attire didn’t come across as corny but more well thought out and put together. Overall the performance of this 62 year old woman was dope! It’s a must see.

The Sound Of UKG

posted by on 28/02/2011

A few days ago I was in my car on the way home listening to the radio. I flicked through a couple of stations and all but one was playing the same generic popular songs of the moment as you would expect them to do. However one was playing some serious UKG that I am ashamed to say I had forgotten about and it has inspired me to write this post. For those who don’t know UKG stands for UK Garage which is a musical genre most commonly known simply as Garage music.

Paul Smith Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook

posted by on 28/02/2011

My brother first got me into Paul Smith, and I straight away fell for the traditional British styling with a twist. Since chopping off my long locks, I’ve been inclined to re-evaluate my wardrobe and am all over every outfit from the catwalk at Paul Smith’s Spring/Summer show.

Condé Nast Worldwide News Shop

posted by on 28/02/2011

Whenever I head off on a long journey (by long journey I mean 3 hour+ coach/train/plane trips), I always purchase GQ UK & US magazine and the Independent. Honestly GQ Mag is the by far the best men’s magazine out there, it has the right mix of style, fashion, art, culture and of course women. I’ve always wanted to check out magazines from other countries to understand how they perceive fashion and all the other thangs previously mentioned. Well Condé Nast, the parent company to Vogue, GQ, Glamour and so on have decided to open up a shop space in Vogue House. This new shop will feature all the Condé Nast magazines and books from 25 different countries for the first time. You can also browse their digital equivalents on mounted iPads before purchase, how dope is that! more on the reverse.

259. Waterloo Station Escalator View | LDN.365

posted by on 28/02/2011

Random ass title ey? well that’s me for you. I take my camera everywhere, well everywhere except the toilet because that’s just grimey. I took this as I was coming out of Waterloo Station‘s underground part via escalator. The TFL may annoy me on a constant basis but the architecture truly fascinates me at times. This station has a futuristic feel and the lighting has definitely come out dope in the photo, just look at the reflection. I know I’ve improved over the last 259 days but I can’t wait to be done with this project so I can move on to my next!

Lego Star Wars Ads | Make Your Own Story

posted by on 27/02/2011

This so simple yet so clever and creative. This campaign created by a team of brilliant young creatives at Sao Paulo‘s Escola Cuca Advertising School. I don’t think anyone in my advertising class has created anything like this in the past 3 years and to be honest, we haven’t had many chances to either. Essays, essay, essays and now? 16,500 words till the finish. Ya’ll should pray for me, Yang, DJB & Brady to make it through these next few months. This campaign is all about making your own story and each of the adverts has a unique spin on the Star Wars storylines. Amazingly well executed, gah I still need to play with the Lego my girlfriend bought me for Christmas. More adverts after the cut.

NBA Basketball Week

Wooooah baby, right up my alley. For all you basketball nuts out there, the time has come where England has finally been recongised as a place that is deemed worthy of a basketball event. Continues after the cut.

Cafe Reload 11/02/11 | Performances

posted by on 27/02/2011

This is a post I should have written a fortnight ago but essay deadlines and mac woes stopped me from doing so. Oh and the uploading of each video taking over 5 hours! Yikes. I didn’t even bother adding the Y&Y logo to these as it would just take longer. Hop on after the cut to see a few of my friends performances at Cafe Reload’s Valentines Special. Unfortunately I didn’t get to record the house band perform, they’re always amazing.

258. Tottenham Court Road Crossrail Works | LDN.365

posted by on 27/02/2011

I’m sure all of you have noticed the works going on at Tottenham Court Road Station for the past 6 months. They’ve had to close down part of the road for it, so you know they are working on some major changes. It’s for the proposed Crossrail project to build a major new railway line connecting most of Central London. According to the government it will deliver substantial economic benefits with a profit of £42 billion, mind you it is costing us £15 billion. Anything to improve this TFL service, trains that run on weekends and arrive on time please.
