Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 27/01/2011

Take a trip down memory lane and listen to a track that you probably used nod your head to. its always nice to let your playlist play and hear a song that you haven’t heard in a very long time, prompting you to remember how good a song it was/is. This very thing happened to me yesterday and  I wanted to share it with you all. At the time this song came out I remember playing it over and over again, singing along like I wrote and recorded the song myself lol. I swear i was a singer in a past life time. Anywho peep what song I’m talking about after the break.

Portland Cello Project Orchestra – All Of The Lights Cover

posted by on 27/01/2011

Remember the interlude for All of The Lights from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? Well the Portland Cello Project Orchestra decided to cover it at their sold out show last month in erm, Portland. The interlude is easily my favourite track on an almost perfect album, I’m not joking. Think of this cover as a full version of that. Jeff Bhasker is a genius for producing the song, Kanye West is deserves a Grammy for the album and the Orchestra well, I think Kanye should perform live with them at an award show. Just a thought. Yeezy, I hope you’re reading.

Lynx Excite TV Advert

posted by on 27/01/2011

Yes the image above is a stunning visual from the advert. That’s how you know Lynx have a fairly hefty advertising budget, cinematography and editing in this advert are both mind blowing. Lynx sticks to it’s usual theme of women being attracted to the smell of their deodorant. As always they feature exceedingly attractive supermodels which will pretty much grab the attention of their target market – men. I know it grabbed my attention, wow. Angels fall from the Heavens just to be with a guy who sprays Lynx, isn’t Satan a fallen angel? I guess he came down here for Lynx. Anyway I’m off to Tesco to buy Lynx, ya’ll hop on after the cut for the advert.

This Guy Beat-Boxes 4 Minutes of Hip Hop History

posted by on 27/01/2011

Woah, I’m actually lost for words. This French beat boxer who goes by the name of EKLIPS is absolutely INSANE. I don’t know how he manages to do all those songs in one single take? I can’t even do one song let alone 30 odd songs. Songs from Run DMC to Slick Rick, Rakim to more current folk like Jay-Z and Kanye West. I’ve watched the video 5 times now, each time I’ve tried to beat box along with him and failed. As a result my Macbook Pro screen is full of saliva. Eugh. This guy has some serious talent, it’s like he swallowed an MPC to recreate this beats. Big up EKLIPS! video on the reverse.

Flash Sushi

posted by on 27/01/2011

London‘s most controversial underground dining experience returns for a one-off ‘Valentine‘s’ event for 2011 on Friday 11th February. If you haven’t clocked on what this event is all about – basically you eat sushi off a naked female’s body, one that is hotter than wasabi (sorry I had to use that line!). It’s the first authentic Nyotaimori dining experience in London. Nyotaimori for those that don’t know translates as ‘female body presentation’, it’s a traditional Japanese practice. Back then it was solely preserved for Japan’s very elite but in the spirit of gastro-egalitarianism this will be brought to the paying (£250!) publc in London. 18 places are up for grabs on Flash Sushi website – click here. I would rather eat Chicken Katsu curry but eating that off a female’s body would look WRONG.

Oprah's Master Class – Simon Cowell

posted by on 26/01/2011

I have a new level of respect for this guy. I haven’t really been watching X-Factor/American Idol religiously like some of you have, I just can’t stand all the rubbish acts that get through! Alas hearing Simon’s story is real inspiring. He does what most people are too afraid to do – being 100% honest. I know I’ve held back on numerous occasions when blogging but I guess I shouldn’t have. This is a must watch for everyone who’s trying to break into the music industry, this guy started off in the press room in at EMI records and now look where he is. He was keen to learn from Day 1, constantly bugging others to teach him the ways. Talk 10% of the time, listen 90% of the time. Videos on the reverse.

After our enjoyable Y&Y team meeting yesterday at Busaba Eathai with great company, food and conversation I sat on the tube back home knowing that we all have one thing in common: a love for all things London! So in a break from my disgustingly gruelling New York bar exam studies, I came across this video tonight featuring dope north London MCs Dot Rotten, Calibar, Black the Ripper and Mz Bratt.

Robert Rodriguez + Kobe Bryant = “The Black Mamba”

posted by on 26/01/2011

Film teaser videos for a new film starring Kobe Bryant have surfaced, it’s called ‘The Black Mamba‘ and it’s directed by Robert Rodriguez. Rodriguez is responsible for the two part masterpiece that is Planet Terror starring the gorgeous Rose Mcgowan.  When talk of this film arose it wasn’t clear whether is was going to be an actual film, a short film, or a commercial. Given that Nike are also in the mix, I am dead sure it’ll end up being a 2 hour commercial anyhow! There isn’t much to the teasers, it’s just alot of product placement to be honest but I am a big fan of Rodriguez’s work so I’ve decided this one will be good one way or another. Other stars include Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo and the film is said to premiere this year, watch one of the teaser after the cut.. I chose the more lengthy one.
