Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Review: Chanel Allure Homme Sport

posted by on 07/07/2010

We’ve decided to start doing product reviews here at Y&Y and to kick things off I’ve chosen to review Chanel‘s men’s fragrance, the Allure Homme Sport. Considering I’ve been using the same fragrance for the past 5 years, it was a welcomed change to the norm. Review on the flipside.

Brief Brand History

When you think of high fashion and glamour, one of the first brands that comes to mind is Chanel. The House of Chanel was first established in 1909 by renowned creator Coco Chanel. She stayed in her role as chief designer for the company till her death in 1971. Personally I don’t know how good their menswear is as they are known for the products that cater to the opposite sex. Many of my female friends and ex-girlfriends always request one of their classic quilted bags for their birthday, however all those silly requests have been kindly turned down my bank account. They’re also known for their little black dresses and most of all for their iconic double C logo. It’s one of the most well known and instantly recognisable brands in not only fashion but the world.

The Fragrance

Allure comes in a small metallic bottle which was designed by Jacques Polges, inspired ever so slightly by Chanel’s J12 watch. Like most of Chanel products the packaging is classy and sleek. On to the most important part of the fragrance, the smell.

It has a smooth, lasting smell which is most likely to get the attention of females. The fragrance opens up with a crisp/sharp citrus infused with a slightly aquatic tinge, it is slightly feminine to start with but still perfect. As it continues to reveal a spicy masculine pepper with delicate woody smell. As it sets from the heart to the base, the masculinity intensifies with the combination of cedar, amber and vetiver. I was amazed by the longevity of the scent – I’d spray it in the morning and I can still smell it strongly in the evening (more than 8 hours). In fact my whole room smelled of the allure scent for most part of the day!

I’ll definitely recommend it to all ya’ll, it is summery but I personally feel it can be worn in any season of the year. You can find the fragrance at your local Chanel retailer, if not here is Chanel’s stockist number: 0207 493 3836.
