Dr. Martens has been a brand I have really loved. I remember the first I saw them it was so hard for me not to like it. Dr. Martens is a brand that has been around since the up rise of the underground punk-rock movement. 50 years later Dr. Martens is celebrating it’s long time involvement in the music scene and years of being around. Dr. Martens teams up 10 different musicians all to do covers of different songs. Video after the cut.
This week we rediscovered two of R&B’s influential musicians: R. Kelly and D’ Angelo. Both talented artists with incredible voices and equally amazing songs. I remember R. Kelly’s Chocolate Factory album was a masterpiece, had so many good tracks on there. I am not too big on the genre anymore because everything sounds the same now, can’t do the whole Trey Songz business, but mainly because I haven’t heard any more good talent with the right sound! Here are this weeks throwback tunes…
The video for Telephone got hyped up way too much for what it actually was, while it may have been creative some people didn’t get the concept and how it linked with the song. This we have here is a parody of Telephone; it is so funny and so well made that I think Gaga & Beyonce should consider making this the original! Watch and laugh as these two girls mock the video; the best thing is that they’ve taken everything that we are all thinking and made a song of their own.. is it rude that I prefer this one?
Mayn, this is a joke. Usher’s still living off that Confessions hype! his last album was below par and this one is even worse. So much commercial crap with similar beats plus some sexual innuendo and to no one’s surprise it features Black Gaga, Nicki Minaj. I have to admit her body is NUTS but that face and her weave/wig choice is horrendous. Definitely a paperbag job there lads. To be honest I think Usher should just give up now? and do some more features as the last song of his I liked was ‘Spotlight‘ with Gucci Mane. Video after the cut.
First and foremost major props to my friend Gemma for giving me the heads up on this one. I’ve got mad love for American Apparel tees and hoodies, the quality is exceptional. Items will be upto 85% off and starting from £1 which would probably buy you a crate of daily disposable tees from Primark! Anyway, I’m definitely going to be there and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be as packed so get there early to avoid disappointment. More info on the flipside.
I’ll be honest I’ve owned a pair Nike’s Jordan brand sneakers. The fresh kids seem to all have at least a pair. Last year, I would walk straight into Size? and not even glance at the Jordans but oh how things have changed. I’ve been wanting a pair of Air Jordans for while now, definitely going to cop the black/varsity red-stealth colourway which just dropped today. A black/new blue-white-infrared colorway will also be available on the 5th of June. More photos after the cut.
Erykah Badu wants your “Munny” in her latest track out on the net. Slightly more upbeat than ‘Window Seat’, Erykah sheds her soulful voice on this jazzy beat that will definitely please a live audience . It’s called ‘Can’t Turn Me Away (Get Munny)‘ and will be on her much anticipated album: New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh that is set to launch 30th March. Feast your ears here..
I’ve been loving up their Black Jesus chain for a few months now, it’s one of my best buys as it goes almost every outfit. I need to get me some of their ish when we hit NYC in May. Kevin Lanre and the Street Talk connect hit up NYC a few months ago and met the brains behind Good Wood, Kerri O’Connell for an interview. After the cut for the video.

As stated yesterday, I decided to embark on a new journey whilst enduring this heartbreaking torture without my Macbook Pro. This journey involves me picking up my pencil and sketchpad. I knew what I wanted the final result to look like but didn’t really know where to start off from. It’s the first time in 5 years I’m attempting sketching out my own free will and desire to achieve the end result. My story continues after the cut.
