Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Photography by Krzysztof Wladyka

Krzysztof Wladyka uses an array of animals in his photos, its really impressive because it looks like he communicates with them in some way to direct them. All his photos from this collection look rehearsed- the animals are his models; like there is a story behind it. One thing I am not so keen in is that his photos look so heavily photo-shopped, they look more like painting than a photo but it’s what he captured that strikes me the most. See more of his photos…

Jay-Z – Run This Town – Super Bowl Commercial

posted by on 08/02/2010

This is fucking dope, excuse my french. Jay-Z and my wifey, Rihanna teamed up with E.S. Posthumus for this Super Bowl Commercial. I really wish they would release the mp3 version of this, I will cop that straight from iTunes as it is so much better than the original. It’s funny how they cut Kanye out of it but hey he deserves it after his douchebag behaviour. Did you know it costs 2.8 million for a 30 second Super Bowl advert?

Pancake Day

Not Shrove Tuesday but Maslenitsa (Масленица), the Russian Festival that marks the end of Spring/the week before the start of Lent. So I popped down to the festive activities down at Potters Fields in Tower Hill, first and foremost; It didn’t feel like Spring. It was so cold that thought I was going to be cryogenically frozen but then again I never dress appropriately. When anyone mentions Russia, I think Vodka and I was right, there was an alcohol stand selling every type of Russian Vodka under the moon and at a very cheap price. As always I had a camera on me to capture the event, after the cut for more.

Erykah Badu Takes A Window Seat

posted by on 07/02/2010

30th March marks the day Erykah Badu will launch her fifth studio album: New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh. A very much anticipated release with high hopes that it will top her last album. Listening to this track: Window Seat- I look forward to hearing more material from the new album because it seems Erykah has reformed back to her old ways with a more ne-yo soul sound. I love this track her flow is really chilled- perfect for a mellow Sunday afternoon; Jay Electronica will be touchin’ down at Jazz Cafe in a few weeks don’t forget to get your tickets and here is Window Seat..

Tune Of The Day

posted by on 06/02/2010

I rediscovered this gem when Y&Y extended family member, Leona reposted this on her facebook a few days ago. Cudi‘s performance with Ratat was amazing, you have to watch this in HD. The lyrics ‘I’m on the pursuit of happiness and I know everything that shines ain’t always gonna be gold’ So real, so true just like most of his song lyrics. I’ve bought his album ‘Man On The Moon: The End Of Day’ twice, one physical copy and one digital copy. It was easily one of the best albums of 2009.

H.R. Giger

posted by on 06/02/2010

I hope ya’ll don’t think I am some kind of weirdo who’s into necrophilia after this post. H.R. Giger has always been one of my favourite artists and I’m 100% certain that all of you have seen his artwork at some point in your life. He’s the surrealist artist behind the ‘Alien‘ films; He designed the actual Alien and most of the set designs. H.R. Giger is an Swiss painter, sculptor and a set designer. His distinctive stylistic innovation is that of representing human bodies and machines in a interconnected relationship which can be classed as “biomechanical.” His paintings are often displays off necrophilia and fetishistic imagery so I’m pretty sure some of you will be disturbed.

Vlado Footwear – Famous, Titans, Knight

posted by on 06/02/2010

We’ve featured Vlado Footwear since our site has launched, infact we even wrote a sneaker review on one of their 2009 models; the Aristocrat. They’ve just added 3 new models to their collection and my favourite one, ‘Famous’ is pictured above. It’s so classy, high quality stitching with a golden lining and patent leather upper with perforated side panels with a rubber sole. After the jump for more photos and models.

Crooks & Castles S/S 2010 Lookbook

posted by on 05/02/2010

Crooks & Castle has been around for a while now (established in 2002). This is the first i have heard of it but their latest look book looks quite promising. The style is obviously quite street so the the look book features the generic bright colours, caps and baggy fits. I quite like this brand because it looks different- it’s street fashion but they’ve featured nautical prints, plain tees and stylish shades that makes them stand out; however this Lookbook looks like a turning point for the brand because it doesn’t really reflect the type of clothing they have been producing in over the years!

Three Threads Shoreditch

posted by on 05/02/2010

I stumbled across this shop on my little escapade through Shoreditch to find hidden gems like this store. The store is tucked away on a side road which is just off Rivington Street where Wholesome* is located.Yang’s been looking around for a shop that sell Edwin Jeans since he fell in love with the pair he bought at Selfridges. The thing is they retail at around £155 which is fair bit in my opinion! I love what they stock at this store from Redwing boots to Clarks Originals’ desert boots to more high street brands like Carhartt, Wrangler and Fred Perry. So if you want to go for a more refined streetwear look, you should definitely check this place out. Details after the cut.

Massive Attack – Splitting The Atom Music Video

posted by on 05/02/2010

Bit late with this one actually, ignored it when it came into my inbox a few days ago till my friend over at Pure Primary gave me the heads up via Facebook. I was blown away, both by the song and video. The rendering for this video must have taken hours, I would like to know the polygon count! It’s probably an insane number in the millions haha.
