Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Banksy

posted by on 29/12/2009

Banksy reknowned street artist has yet again done some brilliant sh*t! This time a stenciled pice of art on Regent’s Canal in camden, the piece is clearly inspired by the global climate change talks in Copenhagen not too long ago- check out some of his work after the cut.

I love Banksy’s work because it’s always satirical of trending topics in society such as politics, culture, and ethics and he does so so well, such simple pieces of work that get the point across; there are very few artists out there who produce work like this. The Global warming one featured at the top is very simply put but it is a very clever idea. I really like how the water is rising over the line “global warming” I interpret it as he is laughing at those ignorant enough to ignore the fact that global warming is infact a very real threat to life as we know it.. that’s really morbid!

Some my favourites from him include:

  • His own stone hendge made from portable public toilets at the Glastonbury music Festival 2007

  • The mouse asking where Hollywood is- Love this because he’s trying to communicate the fact that everyone these days wants to be famous-society today have been sucked into a world of materialism that is Hollywood.

  • Simon Cowel- This isnt even political its just satirical of Cowel’s personality as a judge

  • NO! Banksy is not racist! (my collegue thought so)

All of Banksys work is really clever, I can stumble accross his work somewhere and it will provoke thought and i won’t even know its artwork done by him. Everything he does is very ‘tongue n cheek’, you’ll always find sarcams in his work and even on is website. He has a section there that is supposed to be an online store- instead he says “Products not actually included, serving suggestion only. All images are madeavailable to download for personalamusement only, thanks“. He goes on to say he isn’t on twitter or facebook or any other form of commercial gallery.
